not so fast, I kept thinking that too but the guy has had how many heart attacks, has a pace maker, and who knows what all else. I also thought the same about Rove & Limbaugh. Limbaugh who has even abused his body with countless drugs. He's got enough of his own money to pay for and employee top notch aides for protection should he believe he needs it. If he's getting threats that's his problem now not ours.
If this "extending security detail" is not a precedent regarding Veep's then why start now. Outrageous!

I pretty much agree with you there - Obama will do better than most, I think candidate Obama was naive, he THOUGHT he could do what he wanted to until he got the job and found out who his real bosses were. I think that we will continue to be in the dark because we have no honest media in this country - the press is bought and paid for, the days of investigative journalism is dead. If there are any out there the are threatened or discredited in some fashion. We are on our way to 1984.

Cheney is getting extended Secret Service protection (unlike any other past VP) because his actions as VP have bred widespread anger at him, and some of that is apparently taking the form of threats.

There's an easy way to resolve this problem, though. It's becoming abundantly clear that he's guilty of having committed several crimes while in office. Try him for them. That will provide him with the opportunity to present the defense he keeps claiming he's entitled to, and after that fails we can provide him with protection somewhere very safe - Leavenworth.

Why would the Obama people leak this to the media? That doesn't make sense.

No where in the article did it say that Obama leaked the info, or that indeed the President extended the SS Protection.
It only implied that it is their understanding that the Commander in Chief has to approve it.
