FiveThirtyEight.com:

Minnesota continues to make news this week. Following word from Ohio that Barack Obama's approval numbers have edged down into mere mortal range, a new survey from Public Policy Polling of Minnesotans--those lucky souls now boasting a full contingent of two US senators--shows Obama beating Republican Gov. Tim Pawlenty in a potential head-to-head presidential matchup, 51 percent to 40 percent.

How about just concentrating on the JOB AT HAND... and there's a LOT to accomplish! Idiotic polls, 6 months into Obama's Presidency are nothing more than turning the business of running our nation into a sports and entertainment activity!

No

It is a good window into seeing the death of a national party

Just 1 more drip in the incesant flood of the downfall of the republican party

I don't know, as a Minnesotan, anything that can smack Pawlenty with some political reality is a good thing. He has been governing as a king, totally disregarding the people of Minnesota.

That's why conservatives love him. They want someone to government like King David, it seems.

Exactly. Speculation about 2012 is nearly worhtless. Things come from out of the blue that change everything. The future is inherently unpredictable.

That's right. No health care that includes the public option that I can buy into, no re-election for you!

I mean, of all the questions you could ask people somebody choose to spend the money and ask this?

I would love to know the thought process behind whoever had to approve the budget for this poll

It comes from the " do anything to keep Obama looking like a temporary leader until another White guy can take over " fund the GOP will be spending a fortune on for the next 4 years.

It's because it's rumored that Pawlenty is considering a run for the WH in 2012. It's nice to see just how that plays in Minnesota, a state that knows him best. If he scores this low behind the President, his value as a GOP frontrunner can be seriously compromised.

That said, anything can happen from now till 2012, but I'm getting the feeling that as time goes by things will get better rather than worse.

All Nate is saying is that while Obamas poll numbers have taken a dip, he is still out in front of potential 2012 republicans, even in their own states. Republicans are not gaining.

Once the economy picks up a little, and if we can get health care w public option, I suspect his poll numbers will follow suit.

I was unaware that they were in an election against each other.

It does seem unfair somehow to put them in the same election.

Give it time, Pawlenty will soon be embroiled in a sex scandal and there will no more need for polls!

After Ensign and Sanford? Pawlenty is just around the corner.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:32 PM on 07/11/2009

What you mean is, give it time and the sex scandal will be REvealed. With a GOPer, it can be taken as a given that a scandal lurks. The only question is whether it's with another man (if the GOPer is ostensibly rabidly anti-gay), or with a woman (if the GOPer is married with several kids).

lol the GOP will not make a comeback anytime soon.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:11 PM on 07/10/2009

I hope not! President Obama might do something the American People don't like and the people would run back to the GOP. Never fails.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:33 PM on 07/11/2009

Like Pawlenty got a shot? Pleasse. First at all Pawlenty is not qualified in the eyes of the N.W .O international bankers to deceit the American people. Obama will be the president that implement the N.W.O agenda.
