Rick Santorum May Have Tipped Off Ensign To Affair's Exposure

A number of conservative Republicans appear to have become entangled Nevada Sen. John Ensign's affair and its aftermath. First, his mistress' husband said that Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) urged Ensign to pay off the woman's family. Now the cuckold is saying former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) was involved as well.

"One of the correspondents that is part of Fox News is Rick Santorum," Hampton told Ralston in an interview. "I sent a note to Rick. I begged Rick to call me, to talk to me before, and he didn't. Obviously, in my opinion, I could be wrong, but that would be what I supposed happen. And if I'm wrong, Rick, forgive, but it appears to me how it happened."

Ensign's parents paid his mistress' family $96,000, "out of concern for the well-being of long-time family friends during a difficult time."

Once again and hopefully for the last time the point is not that politicians cheat on their wives it's that republicans tout family values and the sanctity of marriage and berate others for not living by their rules. The rules that they are breaking ALL THE TIME. More to the point the Italians have the Vatican so we already know all about their morals. Even more to the point morale is the state of the spirits of a person or group as exhibited by confidence, cheerfulness, discipline, and willingness to perform assigned tasks.

The rethugs cannot claim or "sell" the spin that these violations of GOP family values are mere isolated instances.

It seems that the entire republican machinery is more than willing and prepared to hide the party's hypocrisy from their base.

This story has moved beyond the Ensign and the use of party and campaign funds to facilitate his extra-marital affair................. The story has shifted and is focused on the efforts of the entire GOP party and machinery to continue to dupe their base with the notion that they are god fearing christians who place family and family values on the top of their list of priorities (personal and political).

Staunch republicans who choose to turn their heads away from the obvious, and who make idiotic excuses for their politicians (the devil made them do it) are just as hpocritical, fraudulent, and disingenuous as their elected politicians.

Jeff Sharlet wrote a book about this group called "The Family."
About half a dozen congressmen live in the townhouse, which is a former convent, at below market rent. The place is registered as a church, so it pays no taxes. It's long been a secret gathering spot for the powerful but as we can see they are not just about Bible study. Deals are made and secrets protected. (Ensign's secret wasn't so well protected thanks to the scorned husband)

I heard him on Rachel Maddow last night and the "family" is exactly the opposite of what most Christians are taught to believe. After hearing the way this group thinks if they are follow the family plan they believe they are supposed to be the royalty and if they decide to share their wealth it's up to them. They do not have any intention to do anythig that doesn't serve their best interest first above all else. One remark was that even if they are adulterers or rapists that's ok because everyone is subserviant to them and they are to be allowed to do as they please.

Regarding Coburn's immunity, he's not. He just says he is. Deacons are not protected on priviledged conversations as are ordained clergy. Also, they are not protected if it is relative to serious crimes (e.g., bribery/extortion), Citing his medical degree could get him in hot water. My question is: Is he licensed to practice medicine in DC? If not, he better not be claiming these adulterers (Ensign/Sanford/as well as other C-Streeters) as patients. OB/GYN practitioners are allowed to treat male patients as any doctor can, but having an OB/GYN brings alot of humor directed at Ensign relative to his female problems.

His one out is he is a Republican Senator, and they are allowed to lie and/or withold the truth and are not generally held accountable.
