Specter Calls Sestak A "Flagrant Hypocrite"

CNN:

Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter called his fellow Democrat, Rep. Joe Sestak, a "flagrant hypocrite" and accused his rival of registering as a Democrat "just in time to run for Congress."

Sestak has said that he will challenge Specter, who has the backing of President Obama and party leaders, for the Democratic Senate nomination next year. Specter, a longtime Republican, switched his party registration to Democrat this year.

Sestak registered as a Democrat in February of 2006. Specter became a Democrat in April of 2009. Who's really the hypocrite here?

If I were Sestak, I'd borrow and paraphrase a bumper-sticker from Edwin Edwards's LA gubernatorial campaign and print up a bunch of my own that say "VOTE FOR THE HYPOCRITE, IT'S IMPORTANT.­"

Thanks to Joe Sestak, Specter will actually have to vote like a Democrat all the way up to the3 election if he wants to have a chance in the Democratic primary, but I still want Sestak to win. We already have too many "blue dog" pretend Democrats.

If Specter wins the Senate race, he will immediately go back to his capricious ways and vote against a Progressive Agenda.

The only reason he is a little reasonable now is because he wants to get re-elected.

Specter has done some good things in his political career for science and medicine because that issue was personal to him. IMO he should retire now though.

Admiral JOE SESTAK will be the perfect replacement for Arlen Specter. Joe is already a two-term Congressman. During his distinguished career in the Navy, Joe led a series of operational commands, culminating in the command of the George Washington aircraft carrier battle group, which consisted of 30 U.S. and allied ships, 15,000 sailors, and close to 100 aircraft. Under Joe's watch, the George Washington battle group conducted combat operations in Afghanistan and precursor operations to the war in Iraq. After graduating from Cardinal O'Hara High School, Joe followed in the footsteps of his father, a Navy captain who served in World War II, and attended the U.S. Naval Academy, where he graduated second in his class. Joe also holds a MPA, and a PhD in Political Economy and Government, from Harvard University.

Come on Admiral Sestak, blow this wind-bag out of the water, we need a Real Democrat representing the folks in PA, not some opportunistic turncoat who switches political parties not because he had an Epiphany that brought him closer to the ideals of the democratic party, but because he thought it might help his re-election chances.

Joe Sestak is a man to watch! He is sharp as a tack, smart and educated, and has international experience this is important for our leaders. I look forward to watching his political career and have a feeling he is going to be a star for the progressive movement. I'm delighted he is running!

I am not from PA and what worries me is that if PA is open election all the Repubs will vote for Spector in the primary similar to what happened with Lieberman.

PA doesn't have open primaries which is why Spector had to switch parties to win a primary (in theory). Independents can't vote in primaries at all.

The majority of voters in the state are registered as Democrats and Spector knows that the only people left in the PA Republican party are the far right win and no candidate can win with just their votes.

Former repugligoo­ns-turned-­democrat-f­or-the-vot­es haven't become "internets" savvy yet - this ole dino probably doesn't know how we can catch him and call him out on lies within seconds, he thinks we still live in the age where we depended upon the teevee and walter cronkite for our info. He's GOT to go, he's a detriment to pa. no matter how many times he throws us a little bone with a vote with dems. Sestak is reportedly a good candidate and i want to see specter fight for his seat, not assume he's got it in the bag.
