The really scary aspect of Obamunism is that but the new and proposed banking regulations will remove every competitive advantage of the community bank, and make every bank identical, forced to operate exactly as does Bank of America. Then, absent competitive opportunity, all of the independent banks will be greatly de-valued and handicapped. They’ll be vulnerable and easily rolled up into the handful of remaining giants … the small bank’s wealth made into fresh food for the insatiable hunger of the big banks’ deficits and losses. This is the next step in Obama’s plan to take total control of the financial system and money supply, a requirement of dictatorship.

it must be scary to live in your mind.
while i detest the big banks and won't do business with them, you are off the mark on Obama.

Come on, you just put President Obama's name where Bush's name should be! Bush is the one who destroyed our economy, and now you say it was all President Obama's plan? The meltdown started in 2007 when Obama was not even a candidate for president. To say that he planned this entire mess is just ignorant!

You should seek mental help!

So, all of you critics where were you when Bush spent us into a trillion dollar deficit.
What do you have against Unions is it because they make a better wage, Obama is trying to clean up a mess that the Rethuglicans created but don't seem to have any answers or want to help clean up the mess they created, kind of like you kids who don't want to clean their room. The Rethuglicans would rather put the blame on Obama for everything that is wrong in our economy, at least he can own up to his mistakes.
The last thing to see in a recovery is jobs.

The Republicans had "an" idea. Tax cuts for the top 2% again. They quickly forget that the wealthy have received more tax cuts in an array of different ways (vacation homes for client visits get tax breaks etc.) and has been raised on the middle class (Reagan Admin decided that it would not longer allow people to deduct interest from car loans etc.) The wealthy of today are paying a great deal less % wise than they did during Eisenhower.

What has this caused - an ever decreasing middle class, the super wealthy getting wealthier and greed run amok by deregulation.

Exactly! Supply-side economics only works if there is a demand for the supply. Giving tax breaks to the wealthy few who you say will employee more people through expansion of business, does not make sense when there is no demand for the proposed increase in supply. You can see the whole logical fallacy of supply-side economics in the shell of the economy we have left. We've given tax breaks to a privileged few, they expanded operations not in the U.S. but in 3rd countries, thereby taking the wealth out of in the U.S. (by saving in labor and production costs) but also lining their own pockets, because really, how could they not when their labor costs were now minuscule? So companies marketed their cheaply-made crap and we bought and bought and bought because at first we had the income but then we had the credit.

Now we've come to the end of the credit line, and to keep that going as long as possible, we were allowed and encouraged to use the equity in our homes to keep the consumption going.

So how do you fuel an economy through supply-side economics when there is diminished demand? You can't. You can't create demand when so many people are out of work, out of credit, and out of their homes. We've got a long way ahead to pull out of this mess.

The argument has never been about whether or not the stimulus package will work or not. The argument was whether or not it was good for our economy.
Pouring trillions of dollars into the economy will have the " sugar" high effect. It's not a fair distribution method but it is a method. It will get money into peoples pockets. The long term effects of this " Sugar" high are what worries economists. Europe looks to Germany in the 1920's. We can also look to Japan in the 1990's. The lost decade... FDR's "recovery plan " made people feel good but it didn't work.

Oh it didn't work? I guess you are forgetting the greatest increase in the middle class ever?? The types of things that Obama is giving money to is our poor and decaying infrastructure and jobs for the future - they are not what you can temporary or sugar high, but foundational things. Ever heard why the Roman Empire was great - it was their roads!!

The money is going to teachers and police that already have jobs. Teachers and police are not " wealth producing" members of society. Forget politics, they don't produce wealth or profits. The other money is going to large construction companies to repave roads and build bridges for more cars. That's hardly 21st century thinking. Its something that was done in the 30's and 50's. No money is going to the poor because the poor don't have a lobby group. Thats reality.
Other money is going to some , not all, the unemployed. Its sort of a reward for not working. It's not an incentive for people to go out and create wealth . Its a disincentive.
The democrats plan is "wealth redistribution" its not "wealth creation".

Lets see this was presented as a two year program that would take some time to get going in some areas. Now, the short attention spanners and the trolls are trying to rewrite history.

i would rather they take a little time to figure it all out and make it work than have to listen to any more of the fo ols on here talking about how it is not being run right.

Do it right. Take you time. There is no instruction book for this.

GObama. This country was handed to you in shambles. You've had to start your term running and putting out every concievable fir.e. We are all learning alot of lessons from our transg.ressions and greedy ways. There's a lot of fixing and clean up to do. The first stimulus kept the bottom from falling out. The second will hopefully save main street.

There is simply constant propaganda from the Republicans against everything Obama is doing. They have always opposed health care reform and spending more money on green jobs and technology, and have done everything possible to block these. They are against the common people of the United States, and in fact despise them, although they are very good at using race and religion to get their votes.

First of all, one has to ignore Limbuagh, Murdoch "News" and the Republicans, who only attack Obama continually and want him to fail. They will do and say anything to achieve this, and care nothing about the country at all. The Republican governors are even holding back stimulus funds from their states so they can say that Obama is failing.

Earlier generations of Republicans would not have been this bad, but we are now dealing with the Worst Generation, and they are simply amoral.

Their party has not had a new idea since about 1882, and they keep pushing the same free market ideas as if they had never been tried before. In fact, they have been tried for the past 30 years, and they have left us in another depression.

You are so right about the holding back. Banks are also holding back giving out loans when they are definitely solvent enough to do it, why?? They want Obama's recovery to fail so that they can get another one of their "friends" in office and allow them to stomp all over us AGAIN. With their multi-million dollar bonus's.

So maybe in two months it will be: $2 to Main Street for every $306 to Wall Street!

Compared to $1 to Main Street for every $306 to Wall Street!

By the way where the HECK is the NEW Version of Glass-Steagall going to be ready to regulate Wall Street SO I CAN SLEEP AT NIGHT?

That will BREAK these conglomerates called Banks and Insurance Companies up quicker than you can say Glass-Steagall, we Hope!

Barney Frank was taliking about that today, (Glass-Steagall replacement) It should be ready soon. He also said that there was about 6 billion in profit from TARP repayments, so far, which he wants to re-direct to hard hit neighborhoods.

The administration only moved to spend the Stimulus faster when the press began to run stories about how little money had been distributed.

Needs to move faster, yet...heck, they're considering euthanizing animals at Boston's Franklin Park and Stone zoos due to lack of funds. http://www.boston.com/news/local/breaking_news/2009/07/due_to_budget_c.htmll)

The Republicans fill me with rage...all their talk of "patriotism" and "family values", yet daily I hear stories about zoos closing...county and other rural fairs canceled....schools canceling sports....libraries closing...eviction after eviction...on and on. All of those things that I associate with America and her core values are in mortal danger because of those Republican S.O.B.s

I just hope that 30 years of Republican attacks upon the middle class and working poor (and the consequential impact upon our economy, the fools) don't yield unnecessary human deaths in America, too.

But with the continuing loss of health care coverage and the "blue dogs" dropping their Democratic camouflage, I am afraid that America will see her share of deaths at the hands of the Republicans.

Just like Iraq.

They are persistent in their greed and lack of humanity, so we have to keep up the fight.
