Historically Black Fraternity Inducts Bill Clinton As Honorary Member

NEW ORLEANS — A historically black fraternity has voted to induct former President Bill Clinton as an honorary member.

Phi Beta Sigma President Paul Griffin Jr. said Friday that Clinton is the first U.S. president to be inducted into a historically black fraternity.

The fraternity voted Tuesday for Clinton's induction at its 95th Anniversary Conclave in New Orleans, La.

Stevie Wonder, Al Roker, the Rev. Al Sharpton and jazz musician Ramsey Lewis are also honorary members of Phi Beta Sigma.

The fraternity was founded in 1914 at Howard University in Washington, D.C. It has more than 150,000 alumni and college members in about 500 chapters throughout the U.S., Caribbean, Africa and Asia.

Bill and Hillary Clinton have fought hard throughout their adult lives on behalf of civil rights for all people as most of the world knows. It took the Obama campaign to stoop low enough to unsuccessfully try to smear both Clintons as racists to secure the black vote for their guy. Congratulations to Bill for this well-deserved honor.

Agreed! Although I did vote for Obama in the general election, I was appalled and angry at both of them (Michele and Barack) for disingenuously using the "race card" against Hillary and Bill. Anyone who actually bothered to READ Bill's and Hillary's full statements (which where being 'used' by the Obama campaign to cry "racism") had to know that was a trumped-up crock of lies against the Clinton's! Unfortunately, the Obama's are not above 'politics as usual' in that regard and it was disgraceful and completely unfair to BOTH Clintons!
