To think they would allow this man to stary in office after he has betrayed his family, his State, and possibly NationalSecurity is too much. South Carolinians should be screaming for him to resifn! It is not the affair, but his betrayal.

I am honestly not surprised when a politician has an affair or demonstrates hypocrisy, I just feel bad for his family. As somebody who grew up in a broken home under similar circumstances, I hope that he takes the time to reevaluate the obligation he has to his family and be man enough to follow through on his obligations.

I feel sorry for his kids, but no his wife. Apparently she is ready to forgive him so that she can maintain her political status as a "first wife".

I think it is more likely that she is willing to forgive him in order to allow her kids to grow up in a home with both parents, I may be wrong. I just know from my experience that the mother is often willing to make concessions in order to provide a "normal" home.

This may be less about her pride or lack thereof, and more about wanting to do what she thinks is best for her kids. Either way, I hope that he mans up and does right by his family.

I'm sick of Sanford. This was funny at first, but I'm ashamed of myself for enjoying the demise of a GOP loudmouth. This is a tragic story. It has nothing to do with political parties. If his wife had done this to him, he'd be crying all day, and under medical care. How could he do this to a loved one, or a friend?

Bude, I have a feeling we have only scratched the surface with this guy. 39 secret trips with no accountability to anyone as to his purpose and locations. I predict we will eventually uncover more than just a female lover from Argentina.

And, as Mark Sanford has admitted to his "secret trips," our Sen. Lindsey Graham has admitted to having "secret sins." Our politicians stupidly working for higher levels of stupidity are in abundance here in S.C.

He also STOLE public funds for his tryst and didn't report a relationship with a foreign national, he broke rules as a military officer in the reserves, and he committed adultry that IS illegal in his state.

I have enjoyed watching the oh-so-religious right wing Sanford and Ensigh squirm, but I see no sign (so far) of either one of the leaving office.

I've read that this so-called religion they share tells them that somehow they're God's chosen people (the religion seems only to have male chose people) and that everything they do is either correct, or excusable, so there's no reason for them to actually be sorry for what they did, not to the girlfriends, not to their own families, not to the faith of the people who elected them. Their only duty is to retain power, and to the limited extent EITHER has shown sorrow, it's clearly ONLY over having been caught, not for what they did.

Phooey. I'm sure each of them--possibly unintentially--committed a felony somehow involving taxpayer funds. Find out what it is. Indict, try, convict, strip them of their offices, and ship them off to jail.

We've already suffered from TMI (too much information) which I suspect is in an attempt to distract us, through some kind of printed titillation, from their malfeasance in office.
