Three bombs exploded outside churches Sunday afternoon, wounding the civilians, an Interior Ministry official said. The bombs detonated within a 15-minute span, between 4:30 and 4:45 p.m. local time (9:30 and 9:45 a.m. ET).

Two of the churches are in central Baghdad's al-Karrada district, and the third is in al-Ghadeer in eastern Baghdad.

I believe that most if not ALL of this recent escalation in violence in Iraq is being launched by Iran network of terror in an attempt to keep us focused on the violence, to keep us in Iraq, and not thinking of them and the inevitable military confrontation between us in the not too distant future.

Amazing - one million Christian have fled Iraq - almost all of them. If the violence doesn't stop the next question will be do the Sunni or Shia leave? Apparently, the Kurds have already planned their exit.

In the Middle East there is a powerful ruling caste that uses the most poisonous teachings (knowledge) to keep their membership in eternal emotional uproar and intellectual darkness. Fraticide, intra- and inter-country wars allow the forces of traditional knowledge capability of subduring rationality, the scientific method, new technologies, modern manufacturing and farming.
When Arab and other Mid East leaders realize that their primary purpose is to develop the knowledge and skill of their membership through viable, purposeful occupations and jobs, then they will stop fighing and get to work building a new renanaissance of human accomplishment. Their present mullahs may be reborn as the captains of industry and business.

It is first and foremost the responsibility of the leaders of the Shiite and Sunni sects to enlighten the ordinary adherent of Islam that such acts of violence have nothing to do with Islam.

"Believers, Jews, Christians, and Sabaeans -- whoever believes in God and the Last Day and does what is right -- shall be rewarded by their Lord; they have nothing to fear or to regret." Qur'an 2:62.

So why can't I preach from the BIBLE in Saudi Arabia and many other muslim nations?

Minorities such as the tiny Christian community of Pakistan and Egypt are very mistreated in the Middle East. The Christian community in the areas governed by the Palestinians are under harassment. In fact, the Christians of E. Jerusalem are very worried about being put under Palestinian rule one day. Or ask the Buddhists of Thailand who are under attack by Muslim rebels who are enduring terrorist threats daily. Needless to say, we all know the story of the approximately 750,000 Jews expelled from Arab lands to Israel in 1948----I am not sure what their crime was. My point is that what is happening to the Christians in Iraq is very similar to what is happening to other minorities in the Middle East.

The Orthodox Christians in Turkey have been under harassment for many years, despite the fact the Turkey calls itself a democracy! I was a student there and witnessed the closing of the most prestigious theological schools of the Orthodox.

Which? Halki? And unless And unless you are simply delusional you know very well this is a Turkish-Greek issue. Not a Muslim-Christian issue. The Turks are still a bit sensitive about the Greek-Cypriots doing the ethnic cleansing thing against the Turkish-Cypriots. Not to mention that Bosnia thing. Touchy, huh?

1. From my interactions with Christians in the West Bank (and several Arab Christians within Israel) I do not get the same impression as you. Most of those that I interacted with hate the Israeli occupation and consider themselves Palestinians- so are not worried about being under Palestinian rule, but are looking forward to it. While this might just be the few that I spoke to, it does suggest that your generalisations about Chistrians in areas governed by Palestinians are incorrect. 2. Thailand is not a muslim country, and the muslims are the minority so these comments bear no relation to the rest of your post
3. The expulsion of jews from the Middle East is tied to the hostilities surrounding the creation of Israel and is very context specific.

Why don't we focus on the issue at hand, which is the increasing levels of sectarian violence in Iraq instead of going on a muslim-bashing session?

And then there's that fact that Arafats wife was Christian. But it's easier to make it a religious thing. brings the wacko's out.

The Christian population in the West Bank and in Lebanon for that fact continues to drop fast. Christians in the west bank do face harassment, this is a fact. The expulsion of the Jews from the Middle Eastern countries in 1948 was hardly "context specific." It was a huge injustice as they had not committed any crimes, did not pose any threat to their governments and had lived there for centuries.

Now that Bush is no longer president does anyone here still refer to the insurgency as "freedom fighters"?

Reminds me of four little girls who died in a church bombing here. The Iraqi extremists
are no different than our own home grown type. Synagogues and mosques are targets
of vandalism. Buddhist temples and Jewish cemeteries are defaced. All right here in freedom
loving America.

Are you talking about the 1963 Birmingham Church bombings during the civil rights movement? If so, your post is irrelevant. Right here in freedom loving America where everyone wants to immigrate to, people have unlimited opportunity in this tolerant society. We have a population that is 13% black but we have a black president who won over 52% of the vote. We have a population that is 2% Jewish yet they account for 8% of all elected officials. We have a small population of Indian descent who enjoy one of the highest standards of living in the world. This is one of the most tolerant countries in the world without question.

You bet i'm talking about those children. What makes the post irrelivant. Because
you say so? What part of this country do you live in? Racism is alive and well
where I live. When you said Indians were you talking about native Americans or
east Indians?

It's always been a civil war in Iraq and we were never going to win. The men and women who were injured or died were always fighting a losing battle - that is the sad part, now it is something we have to face.

Lord, have mercy. God help the Christians of Iraq. They didn't have to endure this when Saddam Hussein was in power. He was a dictator, but at least he was a secular dictator and let religious communities be.

If there was a god to grant such mercy, he'd have stopped Bush Jr. from invading without just cause.

I do not believe we should have gone into Iraq in the first place. That being said, the majority of Iraqis wanted the U.S. to leave and let them police themselves. Am I wrong? Well they got it and it seems to be working wonderfully for them. A mixture of a 13th century mindset by some and the want of 21st century freedoms by others will never work.

Why haven't we gotten out of there yet? I thought your guy was going to leave as soon as possible so more of our troops don't get killed. But now he is sending more troops to Afghanistan too. I don't understand. Make love, not war. Bush lied, people died. Coexist. Remember?

These poor Iraqi people. I bet they curse the U.S. every day, that we stuck our nose where it didn't belong. Last count that I heard on the Bill Maher show, over 1 million dead and climbing. Sadam was no picnic, but not any where near this number of people where killed by his politics. I hate that our country has done this in the name of we the people.
