What a great idea. Lets eliminate the people that want to kill innocent Americans because they are envious of our way of life. Now if only the CIA can get rid of Panetta, then maybe we can get something accomplished.

No wonder you righties can never win wars. With your complete lack of empathy, you cannot even guess at the motivations of the other side.

You're right - we should empathize with al Qaeda, because their motivations are legitimate. Obama certainly recognizes this when he states publicly that bin Laden should be killed.

Kanuk1 this is a reminder from a genuine progressive revolutionary (who BTW woul dbe targetd by Cheney and McChrystal if he were here today)
"The spirit of the times may alter, will alter. Our rulers will become corrupt, our people careless. A single zealot may commence persecutor, and better men be his victims. It can never be too often repeated that the time for fixing every essential right on a legal basis is while our rulers are honest and ourselves united. From the conclusion of their war for independence, a nation begins going down hill. It will not then be necessary to resort every moment to the people for support. They will be forgotten, therefore, and their rights disregarded. They will forget themselves but in the sole faculty of making money, and will never think of uniting to effect a due respect for their rights. The shackles, therefore, which shall not be knocked off at the conclusion of [that] war will remain on [them] long, will be made heavier and heavier, till [their] rights shall revive or expire in a convulsion." --Thomas Jefferson
Rupert Murdoch is operating in the sole pursuit of making money. His interest in your rights exists not a whit.

...and at this moment the Obama Admin. is arguing for greater powers to spy upon you than Bush did. He is not pursuing Bush et al for their obvious crimes, he is, in fact continuing their policies almost to a T.

The CIA took in took it upon themselves to even call Americans "enemies as well" Americans killing Americans over .......constitutional power absue, don't be naive with all the illegal programs.. title 18,666.. Sy Hersh and many others have much to report based on facts not imagination/creation

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:09 AM on 07/13/2009

Agreed, Sy Hersh is an excellent source on this subject.

WSJ = FOX = Op Ed for CIA. This WSJ story is factually inacurate. GW gave orders to have OBL killed or captured and sent Delta Force to do the job with Afghan rebels. The standing order to kill or capture AQ members is well known.

Congress was not briefed on a specific program because the CIA says it was not operational. The program to kill or captur AQ members has been operational since 9/ 11. Recall the deck of cards with AQ members in order of rank.

Seymour Hersh is a very good source.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:00 AM on 07/13/2009

Obviously, the article was only part of the true story. No one will ever get the real story regarding anything that the CIA does. Mostly for good reasons. There does need to be a good balance between Congressional approval, secrecy, and illegal activities by our own government. I'm liberal, but I also believe that if need be, one to the back of the head to those that wish to destroy us is necessary at times. I really don't see why Cheney or whoever had to go this route to begin with nor to I pretend to know how everything at that level operates.

No...the agency "spent money on planning and possibly some training." The agency spent money paying people off for their services. You have made no justification for keeping this program secret. We already have "predator" unmanned airplanes carrying out asassinations and certainly would not oppose the killing of Al-Qaeda operatives. This story is bogus, please investigate.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:02 AM on 07/13/2009

On the face of this article there is a significant problem. We know that Bush gave orders to kill or capture OBL when the Delta Force team was sent to Tora Bora. Cheney and the CIA said plainly they did not brief Congress on this secret program because the program was never operational. This is false.

There is a big disconnect between what is a matter of public record on this "secret" program and what is being said publicly about this secret program. Congress needs to open up the shop and do some hard core inspection.

Ramirez, I'll tell you how goofy these lefty's are. A guy was on radio last night and was saying seriously what you are jesting about. That we need to forewarn before bombing inorder to be civilized, to have best defense lawyers available for their trials, and for our soldiers to have Miranda cards with them. let me get thios right..... there has been a secret plan to kill bin laden ..... is that why bush let him go , so cheney could tell us tell us he got him using "the secret cia plan"....... is that why mccain claimes that he knew where bin laden was during the campaign and was going to get him after he won the electio????????

this is such a joke...
oh.. by the way, i'm waiting for WSJ to report the secret republican to fix the ecomony, but i quess we'll have to wait until the 2012 election....they want to make sure that we have lost enough jobs so that when they send the illegal aliens back across the border, they will be able to replace them with american workers at the same pay rate..

another big secret.. how is it that everyone who criticizes obama's health care reform claims that it going to fail, but they never talk about their own health care plan(paid for with tax dollars)... tell us about they extremely good benetifits that you get that you don't want other americans to have.
