And so no one here has an opinion about Obama's promotion of Cheney's lead as.sassin?

And what if they are doing in people other than the Pentagon created "Al Qaeda"? Extra-judicial as.sassinations are not a good thing. They might include people like Patrice Lamumba....or democratically elected Salvador Allende. In a republic this kind of thing is to be avoided.

If we suffer another attack, it will be bad for his re-election. that's the extent of his concern. Welcome to the left-wing mind.

Ok, why is this story being broken by WSJ?

We constantly deride righties for using WSJ for reference, yet you guys are accepting a story that fits what you think from them.

How does that make you any different than the righties? Either the paper is not reliable, or it is. We need to have some consistency.

I wonder if this is Cheney's death squad we were hearing about...

I don't think people are giving credibility to the WSJ. Ithink they are using their ability to reason and are seeing thru this story. It goes in the propaganda pile in my opinion.

The WSJ doesn't print anything without an ulterior motive, particularly now that it is owned by Rupert Murdoch. If you think yelow journalism was bad under W.R. Hearst, he'd be rolling in his final place if he could see what Murdoch has accomplished.

I don't accept it. It seems obvious that the story was designed to try and muddy the water's for the real program, which won't be anything so innocent as assassinating Al Qaede!

A program that has been in operation since 2001 hardly qualifies as never executed. The very fact that the program existed and was created by the Executive Branch without the knowledge of Congress is an illegal activity.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE! Let's have a FULL, OPEN, and TRANSPARENT investigation of the 'hidden' CIA program and all other activities related to Dick Cheney's "violation of the law". Now we know what Rahm has been worried about all along. Once the American people discover what these covert programs were about they will stand up and cheer! MORE, MORE, MORE! Yes, I want to see every Al Qaeda member KILLED - all of them.

Thanks to Nancy and Harry, Dick Cheney is soon to become Rock Star popular. Can a Reality show be far behind?

That's what the Congress of the United States is trying to find out. They would have already known by now if his co-conspirators were not in powerful positions in government, and Bush was thwarting attempts to get Cheney and others in front of Congress.

You are assuming that everything we have been told by the Bush administration regarding Al-Qaeda is true. What if some of that is actually wrong? It's not that I know more than anyone else, but we sure have been lied to so many times by them, I would not be surprised if some of their info on Al-Qaeda's actual purposes is untrue.

According to the poorest people of Pakistan, Al-Qaeda has been a source of aid to them. And in yesterday's newspaper, there was a story about Al-Qaeda recruiting young men to fight the horribly oppressive Somali government.

When we were fighting with the Soviets over land rights to pave the way for oil and gas pipelines in Afghanistan, Al-Qaeda was right beside us. When they are our friend in the oil and gas business, we hear nothing about them. But when they were trying to prevent us from murdering the innocent Afghan people to get to those vital resources, we killed them.

They were never in Iraq until Bush and Cheney said they were. Now we hear nothing about Al-Qaeda in Iraq! It's magical!

Thats because in Iraq they had no rocks to crawl under and hide and most all of them in Iraq perished. It was the mugahadean ( probably wrong spelling ) who we were supplying with arms not Al Qaeda, although I think Osama bin laden was our point man recruited from MIT by the CIA.

This is but the tip of the iceberg. Most of us could agree that at time of war the assassination of enemy leaders is not only legal but is also good tactics. But I would be willing to bet 5 cents of my nickel that this program started at legal and then went way out of bounds. If Cheney was involved and leading the program they had other world leaders, opposition leaders, business leaders and anyone else that was slowing the execution of his master plan, in the crosshairs.

So when we find they had ‘Plans’ to get rid of duly elected politicians at hot spots around the world or we find that we had some hand in the killing of political leaders such as Bhutto in Pakistan, then will you respond that you were wrong?

This is just a political move to protect Nancy Pelosi. If you read the article this plan was not operational. It was still in the planning stage and also had some training done. The CIA does not brief Congress on everything it plans but must brief on operations going operational. The Democrats really don't want a congressional or independent counsel investigation on this because that means they would have to tell the truth.

Obama just promoted Cheney's lead as.sassin. General McChrystal.

Are you suggesting that Congress should be briefed only AFTER CIA programs become "operational"? How would you define "operational"? After an assassination has been carried out? After millions of dollars have been spent to make a program "operational"? Perhaps you're too young to remember the Church Committee hearings and the appalling things the CIA had done without informing Congress.

not the same - so you think every idea that the CIA has should be discussed with the 'sieve' committee? That means every CIA idea would appear in the NYT and WP - is that how you want to secure the country????????????????

Operational means they are ready to send agents to the field and put the plan into action. Not the planning stage. The CIA like the Pentagon has plans for everything and is continuing to plan all the time. Once again when they are ready to put a plan into action which this one was not.

Nancy has already made the accusation that the CIA lied to congress which is a federal offense punishable with prision time. However if Nancy was not lied to means she knew about torture and this statement would mean an ethics violations which she would lose her speakership. That is why protect Nancy.

Drip, drip, drip.......does anyone honestly believe this information is being "leaked" by accident?

This administration will continue to dribble out this intel until the American populace virtually screams for a Special Prosecutor and President Obama will say that the "Will of the People" must be obeyed.

Birlliant.

Perhaps. Or maybe the corporate MSM is filtering stories to lead a meme just as they widely advertised Obama opposition to new set ul mintz in a certain occu. pied arab place and then a tiny news leak less advertised he was supporting 2,500 more such places. Beware of the neo-conservative influence in America today. It is a pervasive philosophy of deception and the neo-cons are in the media, academe, the military industrial complex and the Obama Admin. too.

i believe this was the plan and leaders were in fact disappeared.CNN will have the tapes to be examined.

The CIA "Was acting on a 2001 presidential legal pronouncement, known as a finding, which authorized the CIA to pursue such efforts", yet Bush & Cheney didn't approve? Then why did they direct them to initiate a program that they didn't approve of? Seems like they need to get their story straight!

More like no opportunities for the hero worship the gops crave. They want the medals and the parades and the groupies and the talk show appearances and the ability to get a table at any restaurant without a reservation, none of which the average black-bag wetjobber gets.
