While the pinstripe crowd fixates on troubled assets, a stalled stimulus and mortgage remedies, it turns out that a more sure-fire financial fix is within our grasp -- and has been for years. New research says a healthy dose of estrogen may be the key not only to our fiscal recovery, but also to economic strength worldwide.

The headline should have read "Fixing Dinner is Women's Work."

I love to cook for my husband before he goes to work and when he comes home from work.

So how do you manage to get to work on time and to get dinner on the table on time when you get home from work?

It's not women vs. men. If you expand the pool of qualified people by doubling it, you will get more qualified people all around. Just look at the colleges that went from all-male to co-ed (ahem -- U.Va.) -- the standards shot way up.

Agreed.
The same argument can be used regarding Obama. It is not the point that he is Black, but that the most qualified person was Black, and was not eliminated from consideration for the job because of his race.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Replace all of our politicians with soccer moms and we'll have this country fixed in no time. I'll never understand why politicians are unable to manage money, come up with a workable budget, show common sense and do the right thing.

You need to read what I wrote. I said "soccer mom" in terms of replacing "politicians". Last time I checked, Sarah Palin was a politician belonging to a political party, therefore, unable to be a soccer mom.

My husband, whom I love dearly and is the most wonderful person I know, cannot get our two boys to mind him. He can't get the dog to sit. The dog will sit for me. I have a different approach to getting things accomplished. It's more circuitous, based more on cooperation, but I get better results. A straight-line approach, which is based more on control, will often land you in direct opposition to a brick wall.

Due to the glass ceiling, the companies with women in top positions probably have top women, those who could break the glass ceiling. Meanwhile the companies with only males in top positions have everyone promoted one step beyond their competence. In order for this study to be universally applicable, you would have to thin the herd of male management considerably.

Sounds like a great idea, lets start with the banks and move onto wall street.

i don't get this article at all. for the record, i am female, over 40, bipolar and technically only half white.
innovative "make the world a better place for current AND future generations" policy decision making doesn't happen anywhere regardless of the sex, age, ethnicity or gender of the individual. if decisions are made to service greed, any old human will do. women are NOT more nurturing and socially responsible than their male counterparts. women are not more compassionate, nor less greedy and bloodthirsty and willing to use power to oppress others. quite the contrary.

Over the course of my long & varied career, I have worked in N. America, Europe & the Middle East. I have literally known thousands of women in the workplace.

I met very few women who wanted to work for other women.

The reasons varied, but they were primarily based on complaints of emotionalism, domineering personality and general lack of management abilities.

I take claims that women are more successful in business with a huge grain of salt. I suspect it has more to do with the gov't shoveling money to them based on hiring or promoting females than any inherent management abilities unique to females. My direct experience is the exact opposite.

Why such a varied career? Keep getting fired? I can't imagine why? I think maybe you are projecting your inadaquecy onto women. Try to take responsibility for your own life instead of blaming women and minorities.

Personally, I never have problems with men or other women. So what's your problem?

The balance of findings, which have been largely on participants of European ancestry, indicate an average adult brain volume of 1130 cubic centimetres (cc) for women and 1260 cc for men.

Statistically men have bigger brains. Maybe thats why we men are working less these days. LoL

However, it has been proven that a woman's brain at rest is more active than a man's brain at work. Also women have been shown to be able to multitask up to three things at once when a man can only handle one. Size doesn't matter in this situation. Wouldn't you rather have an IPod than a boom box? Our brains are smaller because we exercise them more so our neurons are tighter than men's.

I used to work in a female dominated workplace. Lots of multitasking going on which meant things were almost never finished and those that were, were not done well.

Yes, but having more brain activity while resting doesn't do much good in the workplace. And multi-tasking three things at once is fine and all, but what use is it if you're asleep?

Women use both sides of our brain at the same time. Men tend to use one side at a time. That's why we multitask and care for children more easily. Men are able to compartmentalize better so they can focus keep emotions aside when they hunt or kill.
We are different for survival of the species.

Well if you were a little smarter you would know that the ration of brain size to body mass is about the same and that is what counts. Evidently that 70cc didn't help you much there.

Men have a warped sense of size. Although in many instances size does matter, in the case of brain size it's how well developed and the activity of neurons that is more important. The fact that women can use both hemispheres at the same time is relevent.

In 1979, feminist artist Judy chicage first displayed her work, The Dinner Party: a triangular table inscribed with the names of historically important women, real and mythic. One such honored woman was Queen Bodica. There is also the word Amazon inscribed. So tell me, why do feminists laud female warriors AND claim women are peaceful? Is this an example of using both sides of the brain at the same time?

If women had been in charge from the get-go, there wouldn't BE a problem. Absolutely guaranteed.

We wouldn't be spending over half our budget on military and less than 6% on human services.

People would matter first, ALL the people, not just the wealthy ones fighting to keep the status quo, more for them, less for everyone else.

Our environment would be protected above all else because women understand that without clean air, clean water, and healthy thriving life forms, we cannot survive long on this earth.

Women are all the things men brag about being, to the 10th degree.

If women are all things that men brag about, why do these articles focus on the fact that success for women depends on how well they do in male-dominated environments such as politics and business. Why isn't female success defined as uniquely female accomplishments? why do women want to participate in these male activites if they disdain them so much? As for the whole non-violence nonsense you need to do some serious studying about life in the harem. For much of human history, the harem was the place of intense political activity. The harem was where the queens, concubines and eunuchs worked to achieve power behind the throne. The women in the harems spent most of their time plotting to kill the sons of the other women so that their son could ascend the throne. Women who live in these violent environments are themselves violent. Your view that women are by nature peaceful is merely the sentimental (male propagated) Mrs Cleaver view of women.

Certainly not news to one Brooksley Born, who wanted to regulate derivatives in the 90s, but was shouted down by Larry Summers, who argued that such regulation would prove to be a catastrophe for the economy. Men, and their opinions on what's best for the economy, are revered far too much in society

Yeah don't forget that on top of being wrong and shouting the woman who was correct Brooksley Born down, our "brilliant" Mr. Summers then went on to state at Harvard that women were genetically inferior to men at math when evidently it was he who could not do the economic addition.

Oh well. I don't want to be as sexist and stupid as Mr. Summers here. I believe our entire system encourages short term looting over long term business building. Let's fix that. Supposed differences between the sexes often turn out to be socialization or bad data more often than not.
