A "kiss-in" drew about 60 people sporting pink paper hearts to the sidewalk just off of LDS Church property near Main Street and South Temple Sunday to protest actions taken by church security late last week.

You have no idea how some of their own are treated either. The LGBT is not the only group abused, you might even say they abuse their own women in a legal way. Unfortunately you can not embarrass that state when you are doing something to fan your own flame. They "are right", they stick together and they are basically brainwashed people. AND they would rather that the rest of us did not do more than drive through.

They ACT more like Christians in their treatment of others, especially their neighbors, than do members of most Christian denominations.
They're gradually getting rid of the nonsense penned by Joseph Smith in favor of the Gospels.
In, say, 200 years, I predict Mormonism will be as mainstream "Christian" as Baptists or Presbyterians.
When they lose the golden underwear I may even consider joining them.

Most of the founding fathers of this country were deists not christians. And Mormons are not Christians either.
I love the idea of this protest, but I wish that it had more people. This demonstrates a relative lack of organization in the LGBT community. As a Gay man, I think the turnout is disappointing. But, I think that the LGBT community should work with this idea and bring out more people.
Agreed, but have you BEEN to SLC? To have a demonstration at all, directly confronting the LDS church on its own turf with such a quick response is, I think, commendable. But more is always better, just ask the Iranians.
I am not gay, but I would have been happy to attend if it were nearby. A perfect opportunity to give my best friend an affectionate kiss to reinforce that a positive thing should not be demonized.

You can call it silly, but one of the many incredible qualities of the U.S. is the right to protest. Are you saying they should not exercise that right?
Everyone knows the situation here is immeasurably better than in Iran or Saudi Arabia, but that doesn't mean it is okay for Americans to rest on our laurels instead of making it even more equal and free.

The ongoing discrimination against other people in any form must be addressed at every point and as quickly and peacefully as possible. I salute the people of SLC that had the courage to show up and express their affection for others in a very short time.

How would you feel if a member of your local government urged citizens to come onto your private property and engage in behavior you find offensive?

I am not easily offended and I do not discriminate against others based on factors of which are none of my business.

Had I been up in Salt Lake I would have been there. With weddings and such going on at Temple Square PDA for them isn't banned, but it seems to be for gay couples. When Main street was sold to the church everyone who isn't a member of the church could see the hand writing on the wall. It was sold on the condition of public access. That went to the way side. And here we are many years later seeing how the church is two faced.
If I recall correctly there hasn't been a homosexual wedding at Temple Square PDA, right?
I wish I knew this was being organized. My wife and I were in the area and would have participated.
