Palin: My Own Son Isn't A Republican

In an interview with the Washington Times, resigning Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) made a surprising admission: Her own son doesn't belong to the party she represented on the national state last fall. Asked what she would do once she stepped down from her post, Palin told the paper she would campaign for candidates she favored, whatever their party:

"I will go around the country on behalf of candidates who believe in the right things, regardless of their party label or affiliation," she said over lunch in her downtown office, 40 miles from her now-famous hometown of Wasilla -- population 7,000 -- where she began her political career.

"People are so tired of the partisan stuff -- even my own son is not a Republican," said Mrs. Palin, who stunned the political world earlier this month with her decision to step down as governor July 26 with 18 months left in her term.

Palin may be expanding her horizons out of necessity. Vulnerable Republicans facing reelection in 2010 have said they don't want her help.

Frank Wolf's seat isn't actually in danger. My parents live in his district, and the only reason that they don't vote for him that they both vowed in 2000 not to vote for a Republican ever again. More centrist Dems will vote for him, because although he votes to the right on the hot-button issues, he actually believes in most of what he says and votes for. People will not easily throw someone like that out, even if they disagree with most of their policies. For example, a friend of mine was an intern for him once, and she told me an incredible story. In the early 2000s, there was a serious lack of food in Ethiopia and Eritrea that was about to get significantly worse. When Representative Wolf started working on the issue, the only TV station that would cover the problem was BET. It wasn't pork and there wasn't much consciousness of the problem within his relatively wealthy and white district. He was working on it because he thought it was the right thing to do. He's not going anywhere unless he retires. And not bringing in people from outside his district to campaign for him is a great example of the reason why.

Tripp Easton's middle name was given after the hockey equipment manufacturer. Her youngest daughter Piper was named after the airplane manufacturer. It would be interesting if Piper has her mother's proclivity for vengeance.

Notice, she didn't say he was a Democrat. He is more likely a in the Alaska Independence party that want to secede from the union.

I'm not sure that Alaska can actually secede BTW. They were bought from Russia and didn't "sign into the union" the way most other states did. We OWN Alaska. IMHO, at least the original 13 could just decide, "thanks but no thanks".

Actually, they did join the union like the other states. WE "bought" Alaska from the Russians decades before they became a state. We also bought most of the other United States from the French (Louisiana Purchase). So really, Alaska isn't any different than any other state.

I'm no constitutional lawyer, but every state has equal rights to succession -- which is to say none. We also "bought" a large parcel of land called the Lousiana purchase, which included several of the states that attempted succession after Lincoln was elected. The US will fight succession regardless of the state's individual history.
