Goldman Execs Sold $700M Of Stock, Most Of It During Their Bailout

Financial Times:

Executives at Goldman Sachs sold almost $700m worth of stock following the collapse of Lehman Brothers last September, according to filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Most of the sales occurred during the period in which the investment bank enjoyed the support of $10bn from the troubled asset relief programme.

Regardless of what most people think, both parties got us into this mess and facilitated the wealth of Wall Street Executives. Bush wanted TARP without thinking about oversight, the Democratic majority in congress gladly gave it to him as they salivated over the spending opportunity. Republicans in congress put their tails between their legs when they were verbally slapped by Frank, Pelosi, and Reid. BOTH parties have facilitated the wealth of Wall Street Executives. Ninety percent of the people in this country work for small businesses and nothing has been done to help them. Tax revenues will rise and unemployment will fall when small businesses begin showing signs of life. Both parties tout that they are for the little guy, baloney, both parties embrace the rich through different means for political survival.

2010 will be a very rough year for all. Except, of course, GS execs and government officials. Otherwise, a very rough year indeed. Housing crisis is getting ready for a double dip whammy. Alt-A mortgages will be resetting over the next 5 years. Unemployed with Prime mortgages facing many defaults, too. Upwards of 25% of commercial real estate resets next year, also. Deficit spending continues unabated. States will need a second stimulus just to make budgets work. 2010 will be very rough.

If Goldman Sacks were a country, we (the USofA)would have boycotted it, embargoed it, had sought UN resolutions against it,threatened police actions against it, invaded it to bring democracy to it and be thinking of nuking it.
