Add Gitmo to the list of unfullfilled Obama promises.

Not yet. 6 months to go.

btw, in any sport and endevour, do you consider the participant a failure if his performance is not 100% all the time?

How about baseball?
Do you know how many times J.C. Penny failed?
Did Walton and Cockroft split the atom on their first try?

It would be nice, if when he closed it, he surrendered the lease back to Cuba.

Is this another one of Rahm Emanuel's trial balloon? Or is the MIC (Military-Industrial-Complex) to blame? They (the MIC) have the most to lose.

Closing Guantanamo, on schedule, is INEVITABLE, Rahm & MIC. Make plans accordingly. There must be some small island somewhere that needs U.S. "help".

I love how the troIIies comes out of the woodwork with two options:

Detain them and Obama is a mean, anti-humanirtarian. Heathen!

Try and close Gitmo and he's letting terrorists go free. Oh noes!

It takes a unique type of hypocrite to come up with this tripe.

Where are the facts to support the headline: "Obama Officials Fear He'll Miss 2010 Deadline For Closing Guantanamo"?

If they are like the officials in the Bush Administration, they don't fear anything.

He'll just move the detainees to Bagram prison in Afghanistan.

With the 'prevention detention' he's working on, it's not as thought these detainees will ever know a moment's freedom again in their lifetimes.

It's only a matter of time American citizens are subjected to 'preventive detention'.

Obama's a fraud.

Hope the story is wrong but it has to be done within 1 year that it was announced. Close GITMO prison.

It's remarkable that the NYT may have been right about BHO's concern about not being able to close the prison at Gitmo by the time he had selected to close Gitmo or made a lucky guess. When the NYT gets close to being right, it's a rare event.

One thing is for certain.

Voters who do not have short memories will not miss the deadline to send him back to Chicago in the next election.

wonder what they will do with the dead bodies, like the ones in Immigration jails...
UK press reports that many have been driven insane by the treatment inside these jails, and they don have names, just numbers..the poor dont have anyone to fight for them so they will maybe come out in a baggie, without identification, cremated adn disposed of, with only the verbal testimony of other detainees to document that they lived.

who will ever, ever, take up this fight? will it be sixty years before any records are unsealed regarding these abuses, or will we be told tht the computer records are 'lost' with only the vague testimony of those that can still function after this experience....if they live that long.

Oh no! Another underestimation by Obama (or what the left would call lies if it were a Republican).

So what ! The administration has already said the prisoners will be detained regardless. Whether they've been convicted or not. So whats the difference if its in the states or GITMO?
