Jill Biden To Have Orthopedic Surgery

WASHINGTON — Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joe Biden, will have orthopedic surgery Monday to relieve shoulder pain.

Mrs. Biden will have the outpatient procedure performed at Thomas Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia, the White House said Sunday. The vice president will accompany her to the hospital, and the Bidens plan to spend the rest of Monday and Tuesday at their home in Delaware.

Joe Biden will return to Washington on Tuesday evening, the White House said.

Jill Biden recently returned from overseas, visiting with our military and their families in Germany, including over the 4th of July. After speaking engagements, other countries were interested in her background and advocacy of community colleges, and more invitations were extended. I believe her recent talks were in Paris, France. While she was in Germany with our military, Joe was in Iraq in official capacity of VP and foreign policy. (their son Beau also in Iraq serving his tour of duty).

OT: I had to have outpatient foot surgery after running daily for 17 years, and it was not good at all! Ouch.

It is deplorable that Congress seems to be dead set on putting off healthcare for the rest of us for another few months if not forever! What a bunch of scared and silly asses they are! Too bad. Invasive surgery for something that might be treatable with alternative medicine such as chiropractic, acupuncture, and massage therapy. Unfortunately, surgical solutions often cause more problems than they solve. I have had thoracic outlet syndrome and know it to be best treated by physical therapy, yoga and acupuncture.

Physical Therapy works.

Chiro, acupuncture, massage, works well for some people, sometimes.

There is a reason most insurance plans will only cover PT. It is the best tested first line of defense before surgery and after. Evidence based methods appeal to insurance more than alternative methods.

I am sure that it works for you, if you say so, but does not work for everybody.

I am not saying that insurance companies know best... but rigorously tested, evidence-based methods should be tried first.

Don't even get me started on Craniosacral therapy.

Well, if you have arthritis or something of the like, but alternative methods can only aim to improve your functionality if you have scoliosis, which orthopedic surgery can correct once and for all.

There are certain ailments that orthodox medicine has no answers for except management which alternative methods can heal, but there are others where alternative methods can only manage (although only honest practitioners can admit this) but which orthodox medicine can heal.

This comment is NOT directed specifically at Jill Biden's case because I am unable from the short story to discern what her particular complaint it.
