I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Marcy Wheeler of FireDogLake, appeared on MSNBC Monday to argue for an investigation of secret C.I.A. operations under President Bush. But all of the post-segment discussion focused on her use of the word "blow job", which drew an apology from the anchors.

Wheeler was responding to Townhall's Matt Lewis, who argued that looking backwards and "investigating policies and activities that happened in a previous administration" would set a bad precedent.

"[Y]our idea is that after investigating Bill Clinton for a blow job for like five years, we shouldn't investigate the huge, grossly illegal things that were done under the past administration, only because Alberto Gonzales was too much in the back pocket of Dick Cheney to do it while he was still in office," Wheeler said. "That's ridiculous."

After the segment ended, the Tamron Hall and David Shuster expanded on her "passionate" choice of words.

"I'm sure she apologizes for that choice of words, she's very passionate about it," said Hall.

David Shuster chimed in: "We all say things sometimes when we're passionate that we don't intend, and especially on a dayside family-oriented cable television news network."

"I'm sure she apologizes, and we do, too," concluded Hall.

When Clinton lied, a blue dress got stained.
When Bushed lied, 4400 American Soldiers died for no reason.
I take the blue dress any day.

It was an all out witch hunt! The investigation of the White Water land deal kept increasing in scope until an illegally obtained wire tap from good Republican lap dog Linda Tripp, was used to implicate Clinton.

The Republicans impeached Clinton over "Perjury" which he committed in the dictionary definition of the word, but in an irrelevant line of questions regarding his personal relations, not his alleged involvement in White Water........

Bush :
Misled Congress and the public about Iraq.
Condoned the Torture of Prisoners.
Authorized Illegal Electronic Surveillance.
Refused to comply with subpoenas.
Violate several Treaties and Conventions the US had signed to!

A Federal felony should have been enough to impeach the entire Bush administration! By lying to Congress, Bush violated US Laws related to Fraud and False Statements, Title 18, Chapter 47, Section 1001 and Conspiracy to Defraud the United States, Title 18, Chapter 19, Section 371.

Two was just cake!

Why should they apologize for having a guest calling it as she sees it?

I thought we've got beyond the old Hays Code a long time ago.

She told the truth, but then again, the GOP only like to talk about certain things. Ever notice how they continually air situations that pertain to sex and sexual misconduct. It's obviously ALL the stuffed shirt talking heads want to discuss. Maybe it's the only way they can get their thing off. They persecuted Bill because someone wanted and was willing to do him and not ONE of the GOP.

I agree with Marcy 100%. If Bill got investigated, I want my tax dollars spent on investigating Bush and Cheney and their entire cabinet.

She should have used " a short hike up the Appalachian Trail" instead

Hello,

gatogato, babina, vgirl1, swift2 , I love all of you. It's time to stop taking the bullshit. Can we have a normal person make a comment like this and not apologize. Time to own up. "The horror", "the horror".

Peace

I hate censorship. It infantilizes adults. It does not protect children. It makes life even more mysterious and terrible, because there's so much you can't make sense of.

When children are young, the main way they are protected is from the fact that they don't care. Then they realize there's something called sex. Adults do it. When they hit teenagerhood, they are part of the action. They're much better off if they've heard adults speaking frankly. Things make sense to them.

The CIA is just a bunch of hacks trying to protect Pelosi and divert attention from Obama. Why play the game?

Where is the logic and the proof of your comment? Why would the CIA want to protect Pelosi and divert attention to Obama? You're not even making any sense.

That's the thing. This is not a game. Our lives are involved here, and our system is being damaged. Our laws and adherence to them, is the glue, it is the only thing, that holds our country together. You cannot decide to drive on the left-side of the road and ignore stop lights or school buses with flashing lights. Those things would be illegal, and for good reason. This is not a game.

LOL... I was watching and thought "did I hear what I thought I heard?" (I was sure she said what she said because those words don't sound like anything else.)

She was talking like anyone in Washington would talk behind closed doors or at the restaurant table, but on daytime TV, nope, can't do that.

Was good for the anchors to apologize to keep out of trouble with the FCC complaint since you know the Repubs would do so, just for grins. The apology got MSNBC out of trouble on that one.

And hats off for the two to come up with a nice sounding apology on the fly. They recovered so fast I have to wonder they didn't train for that and memorize certain on-air apologies, they both sounded that good.

So an immediate "on-air" apology keeps the FCC from fining a network? Is that so?

She has nothing to apologize for. The Repugnantcans have everything to apologize for: starting an illegal war, flushing the economy down the toilet, letting Bush and Cheney act like dictators.

You are so right (correct). And we need to go to great lengths, even if it means banging pots and pans together, to make sure friends, associates, people we meet in all walks, are reminded that Republicans did this to the country. They controlled both houses of Congress from 1994 to 2006, and the White House from 2001-2008, and the result is near bread-line conditions with unemployment through the roof, 2 wars, a nuclear North Korea, the Middle East in shambles, Venezula arming and beligerent, and worst of all, they did not catch and convict/punish the man responsible for 911 attacks, Bin Laden.

Obama's administration is severly handicaped in advancing any progressive agenda by trying to fix the mess Bush left. That's an indisputable fact. And indicting Bush and/or Cheney for war crimes, unfortunately, would throw the political system into more chaos than is already manifest because of all the Congressional posturing and polarization that would ensue.

They will try to make the current economic mess Obama's mess, and blame him, not for the mess, but for not being able to untie the knots fast enough. We cannot allow the shifting of blame by people who pretend America's fate and future are just a game.

Marcy Wheeler is spot on and MSNBC anchors are spineless dithering wimps too compromised to report the truth. Pathetic. This is exactly the reason I threw my TV out almost 10 years ago. I don't want this cr^p polluting my living space.
