Barbara Walters

Barbara Walters went to see Bruno, and Tuesday she told "View" viewers just what they could expect from the film.

Joy Behar had told the audience during a previous show how funny she had found the film. Not Barbara, who especially wanted to warn parents who might take their kids.

"There are close ups of penises and pubic hair, with it wagging," Walters told the camera, moving her hand up and down in an approximation of a penis.

She went on.

"I don't need to know how you are having anal intercourse... I don't like seeing close ups of anal sex... This is a movie that's almost as pornographic as anything pornographic I've ever seen."

The moral?

"For heavens sake, don't take your children!"

WATCH (She went on for 4+ minutes, so it's been edited down):

While admittedly there are some parts much better than others, there's no denying that Bruno is a staggering piece of performance art at least.

It has an NC-17 rating. Who would bring a kid to a movie rated for 17 and older?

Actually, "R" means that children under 17 can view the film if accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. "NC-17" means "no children under 17," whether they are with parents or not. They are simply not allowed in the theater. Of course, at a Multiplex once inside you're free to amble into any viewing area you like.

Bruno is much better and far more clever on the Ali G. DVDs. This movie had too much shock and not enough substance.

I'm a 37 yr old gay man with a sense of humor and I left that movie thinking, 'huh?'...There were parts that were laugh out loud funny...but also parts that were kind of scary...sort of like a McCain/Palin rally (the world wide wrestling scene shot in Arkansas).

For sure though, anybody stupid enough to take their kids to that deserves what they get...lol.

I love his Ali G character and the Borat movie was good, but this Bruno one was just tasteless and crass.

I think he tried to ante up the shock aspect and it failed!!.

For those who say its homophobic to find it unpleasant, I really don't know what to say to that.

I have had many liberal minded progressive friends go to Bruno and say they wanted to leave in the middle of it, that is was far too graphic.

I think, therefore, it is more a case of taste rather than homophobia.

It's great when hundred year old women review movies for us.

Her comment about people possibly becoming homophobic after seeing the film was uncalled for and shows homophobia in her own mind. Would she become "heterophobic" after seeing a man and a woman go at it on the big screen(something that has been going on in American cinema for years)?
Can she not distinguish between actual gay people and an extreme cartoon caricature of a gay person? Is she that dense?
