Miami Herald:

As the political crisis in Iran turns toward a slow boil, a North Miami Beach imam is closely watching events unfold there. U.S. authorities could deport him at any moment to the Islamic republic, a country he has never visited.

Why are all these foreign imams taking away jobs from hard working American imams? Actually, I'm not sure if I've ever heard of an American imam. Why are there so many foreign imams?

You have to be able to read in Arabic and English to be an imam in America. American children aren't required to be fluent in a foreign language. Like everything else that requires intellectual rigor the job must be out-sourced abroad.

People sd. be concerned about people like this guy. Overstaying a student visa? Sounds familiar and in the same state certain folks learned how to fly planes into buildings.

There is a series level of denial when it comes to the notion that there are people in this country who may or may not have citizenship but came to this country to do bad in the name of their religion or simply hatred of this country and it people.

Muslims are 99.9% peace loving people. Only a few extreme radicals are terrorists. A terrorist would never find himself in this situation. If this guy were an extremist he would not live in the community of North Miami Beach which is quite Jewish.

Young, healthy, educated guy like him should welcome opportunity to go to the Middle East and help educate illiterate Muslims,
instead of collecting zakat from rich Americans.

Posting of Muslim stereotypes:
Pretty heinous.

Help me get this straight. If he hops a boat to Cuba and later comes back to the Florida coast, jumps out of the boat and swims ashore he gets to stay?

He came here, originally, on a student visa.
He then flaunted the rules and didn't actually go to school enough to be considered a student.

Time for him to be sent home.

His special treatment has gone on for far too long.

Query:
How many times have we deported Israelis on student visas who have "flaunted (sic) the rules"

GASP.... another absolute proof of Israeli conspiracy to rule the Earth and the Milky Way galaxy. Wow you're so observant.

Good point, but apart from that, if he really love U.S then why he refuse not to work with CIA ?

Confidentiality. Imams are like counselors, advisors or priests.
He lives in a highly Jewish community. I wonder who turned him in?

Excerpt:
Farahi claims that at his asylum hearing in November of 2007, he was blindsided when a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement prosecutor offered him a deal to leave the country within 30 days, or face arrest for ''support of terrorist groups.'' Fahari said he was intimidated into withdrawing his asylum petition, and that he may have been targeted because he had refused to serve as an informant for the FBI. ICE officials have denied his accusations.

Query:
Blackmail is an acceptable tactic in the "War on Terror" along with kidnapping, torture and bombing of civilians?

Follow-up Query:
What makes our law enforcement agencies functionally different from organized crime syndicates like al Qaida?

If he violated the law, the law rules.

I agree. But we need to deport him to the country he came from, not one he never even visited.

Lets think this one through.

He is obviously a Shia Muslim.

al Qaida is the enemy of all Shia Muslims. in fact al Qaida and it's allies have killed far more Shia than Westerners, of all kinds.

Therefor the chance of this man actually being involved in terrorist activities is close to zero.

Or did Bush/Cheney institute a war against all of Islam?

As for not taking enough credits in college. Thank goodness there were no consequences for me when I was in school.

He is apparently a valued member of the community.
Unfortunatly, North Miami Beach is largely a Jewish community.
