The Hill:

Republicans running for the Senate next year, including those scrounging for votes to win difficult primaries, aren't saying how they'd vote on Sonia Sotomayor's nomination to the Supreme Court.

Interviews with a dozen Republicans running for Senate seats across the country failed to find one candidate who was willing to offer a clear position, despite the two months of public debate since President Obama picked Sotomayor for the high court.

We should care what Republican candidates for Senate think because...?

Why would any senator say how they will vote on the nomination before the hearings are complete?

Off topid a bit..but did you hear MSNBC say that the female Sen from Minnesota had run into Sotomayor's mother in the restroom and the Mom said that Maria was being ever so patient and calm and it was a good thing that she, the mother, wasn't on the stand because she had plenty to say. I can hardly wait til this is over and she DOES say it. Wow...I love it. She could pin the ears of those very sad mean racist men to the sides of their heads I bet.

Sonia. Not Maria.

How everyone votes should be made public, America wants to see what their reps and senators are doing.

so... was she a 1iar when she was making all these speeches or is she a 1iar when she is answering the questions in front of congress?
The law comes second, her opinion comes first, not a good thing.

[The law comes second]

Sounds like a GOP party motto.

Oh sheesh.... where does it say they have to tell some slimebag newsie or poll ahead of time....The bigger question is why is Sonia ashamed of being a liberal ( kind of goes without saying )... she will be confirmed by a huge margin with no worries . She should be spewing her liberal policies instead of contradicting herself

That you have nothing unique to say and only regurgitated what RushL told you to? Indeed.

The problem with these "unwise" white GOP senators is that there stuck in the past. They miss the days when they believed Latina women should be "barefoot, pregnant, and in the kitchen."

Guess what? No more! And Wise Latina women and wise Latino men will remember come election day what /b/i/g/o/t/s these people are.

GOP'ers are the most petty, deflated, infighting, disrespectful, aimless group of empty suits I've come to know. Who the heck vote for those camouflaged reptiles.

If Sonia Sotomayor is willing to say in open testimony that Justice O'Connor 'couldn't have meant' what she said, how simple and easy would it be for her to say, 'The Founders couldn't possibly have meant what they wrote in the Constitution'?

And some people call Democrats whimps? Maybe these Republicans have not received their "group think" memo yet. They are as predictable as a flea bite. The party has shrunk to a pathetic mind set that is so in the past it is laughable. When will the light bulb go on and bring them back from the dark ages? Over 20 of these neanderthals just signed on to a bill brought forward by Senator Brownbeck to ban cross species breading. NO mermaids or centors for the Republican Party. Scary stuff. They all should be laughed out of the Party.

The GOP has turned these hearings into a grotesque slapstick of bigotry.
