Stefan Frederick Cook: Soldier Won't Deploy Over Obama Birth Certificate

UPDATE: The Army has revoked the deployment orders for a soldier who said he shouldn't have to go to Afghanistan because (he believes) Barack Obama was never eligible to be president.

Because he's a reserve soldier who volunteered for an active duty tour he can "ask for a revocation of orders up until the day he is scheduled to report for active duty," a public affairs officer explained. Cook volunteered for the tour in May of this year. It is not clear why he did so, considering his current objections.

Obama birth certificate deniers won a small victory in court on Monday. Meanwhile, one such conspiracy theorist refused to deploy to Afghanistan on the grounds that Barack Obama isn't a legitimate president.

A judge said he would listen to "the merits" of Alan Keyes' case challenging Obama's presidency. While a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's Office said the move was merely procedural, birth conspiracy proponents are encouraged:

Supporters of a case that disputes the legitimacy of Barack Obama's presidency claimed a small victory today when U.S. District Judge David O. Carter told them to fix their paperwork and that he would listen to "the merits" of their case. But others present for the hearing Monday at the federal courthouse in Santa Ana stressed that the case remains a long way from ever getting a full airing in court and may never get to that point. Perhaps because of that history, Orly Taitz, the lawyer who filed the current suit, was greatly cheered by Monday's hearing. "He's very determined to hear the case on the merits," Taitz said, referring to the judge. "He stated, the country needs to know if Mr. Obama is legitimate, if he can legitimately stay in the White House."

Orly Taitz, the lawyer in Keyes' case, is also representing a soldier who refuses to acknowledge Obama as his president. U.S. Army Maj. Stefan Frederick Cook has argued that he shouldn't have to go to Afghanistan because the man sending him there isn't really president.

In the 20-page document -- filed July 8 with the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia -- the California-based Taitz asks the court to consider granting his client's request based upon Cook's belief that Obama is not a natural-born citizen of the United States and is therefore ineligible to serve as commander-in-chief of the U.S. Armed Forces.

Cook further states he "would be acting in violation of international law by engaging in military actions outside the United States under this President's command. ... simultaneously subjecting himself to possible prosecution as a war criminal by the faithful execution of these duties."

A hearing to discuss Cook's requests will take place in federal court this week.

Attention all you imbeciles who believe there even is an "issue" with the ligitimacy of President Barack Obama! In order for him to hold such office, he had to submit to extremely rigorous security checks and background checks, which include verification of birth, birth place, and all relatives!
One does not just get elected President of the United States and just waltzes into the White House without the lengthy verification and security check that takes months to complete.
Besides, in order to be a U.S. Senator, one must also submit original documents of personal identity, including bith certificates, etc. U.S. Senators are also required to pass a rigorous and extensive security check (not as intensive as that imposed on our President) in order for them to be privy to naitonal security matters. Our President has the highest level of security clearance, and as such, undergoes the most stringent of security and identity checks in the country.
So, those of you who are racists at heart and hide behind the "birth certificate" conspiracy to deny that we (yes you too) have a President who happens to be bi-racial, you only look like total imbeciles and definitely anti-American, so go back to the hole you crawled out from and leave the rest of us with our President.

Exactly. The government just doesn't hand out security clearances to just anybody; if they did, anybody could get one. I went through a thorough investigation to get mine, so I know that President Obama through a more stringent investigation than I did to be able to even run for POTUS.

It is distressing that the subject of Obama's birth certificate is still unresolved.

Since being a native born American is a requirement for anyone to be president, the most powerful position in the world, a candidate should be required to prove his eligibility, by producing the necessary, legally unchallengeable, documented proof, as a precondition to even being considered by any of the parties. The parties themselves should make it their responsibility to ensure their candidates are properly vetted in this regard. No proof, then, sorry, not qualified even to have your name entered into nomination. It's simple. If anyone doesn't like it, then change the constitution. Until this is done, then abide by it. It is unconscionable that Obama has been less than forthcoming about this issue. He should have made this his #1 priority even before the nomination. What does he have to gain by withholding this information?

The nation was founded by immigrants, who were themselves as likely to be of forign-born parents as not. "natural-born" is a useless phrase which has variously been bent so restrictive as to exclude "blacks" born in the US, to the quite generous meaning of including people born in Saudi Arabia - provided at least one of their parents was once a citizen of the United States - even if that parent also had a dual citizenship in other countries.

So it's a phrase people have used at will to clobber others with, I doubt you'll see anyone intelligent use it for anything.
