I'm glad nobody picked Aruba. the Beaches are man made, it's not really pretty there. The local restaurants are pretty good and the shopping is fantastic especially if you're looking to by semi-precious stones or diamonds. The new Marriott (Fisherman's Cove) Resort in St. Thomas is beautiful, the developer made the hotel, beaches, and all the beautiful flowers and plants look like you're in paradise. Even the iguanas are kinda cute (ok, that's a stretch) they're as big as cats!

My fav wedding destination is Divorceland. Its beautiful and calm when you get back. The honeymoon lasts forever.

I live right near that Barbados beach... Barbados is wonderful year-round! A crappy day in Barbados is the same as an excellent day anywhere else.

Most of us got married close to home, as we were not wealthy, and our 'Honeymoon' lasted about 2-days before we had to get back to work. When we retire, we have the money to go these places. But now even retirement will be a luxury most of us will not be able to afford.

For us, getting married abroad was cheaper than getting married at home. We were able to have a very small wedding without having to feed co-workers and distant friends who we felt obligated to invite. As we don't live near any of our family, they were going to have to fly anyhow, so that was not a factor. As we live in a big city, hotels are expensive, so that was not a big deal.

For less money, we got a small, amazing, intimate wedding. And we did not have to pay extra for a honeymoon, because we were already on our honeymoon.

Why do all of these captions say that a wedding in such and such a place will be unforgettable?

Son: Dad, what was your wedding like?
Dad: Well, your mother and I got married in Hoboken, so I can't remember.

It's not listed, but I got married in Rome. There is absolutely no better place to get married. Walking from the Church to the reception and having every Roman in the city come up and congratulate you was unbelievable. Ceremony at a Church in Piazza Novana and dinner afterward in Trastevere. Amazing.

I had dinner in Rome on my birthday one year and we were seated next to a huge family group celebrating a baby's christening. When they found out it was my birthday, they invited me over to meet the baby and my group ended up sharing toasts and food with their group. It was lovely and a memorable birthday. I think about the baby every year. And ya done good on that wedding! I can't imagine any more romantic place to get married than the Piazza Navona.
