I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Nutlog Fox News Channel comedian Glenn Beck was apparently doing his radio show today, when he finally got so sick of what some caller was telling him about health care in the Netherlands that he went to his "death metal" place, angrily spitting envenomed barbs of invective back at the lady on the other line. It was crazy and growly and scary! But that was nothing! Mere seconds later, when the woman said something to the effect that Beck didn't care about people without health care, and yet he was cool with big bank bailouts, Beck somehow found a much higher level of TOTAL CRAZYSAUCE than ever before! Suddenly, Beck was emitting horrifying high-pitched shrieks, wailing, "GET OFF MY PHONE! GET OFF MY PHONE!" and a bunch of other terrifying stuff that only dogs can hear. Jeezy creezy the guy is just all messed up inside!

[LISTEN]

Of course, it's probably true that the woman had never tuned in to Beck's radio show before because, if she had, she would know that Beck really isn't a fan of the bank bailouts. She'd also know that his opinion on health care reform is basically limited to whining about that one time he went in for ass-surgery and barely survived to make a terrifying YouTube video in the style of the Blair Witch Project about how he had scary drugged-up visions that left him angry that the people who treated him at the hospital did not give him the rich-person compassion that he felt he deserved.

Anyway, Glenn Beck screaming like a cartoon mouse being stabbed in the scrotum with knitting needles is your new, terrifying ringtone. Warning: Once you listen to this clip, you can never un-listen to it.

Listened to the clip. Can't blame him. The caller was a stick in the eye that only wanted to keep twisting.

I am amazed at the amount of HATE on this board. I am amazed at the amount of disinformation on this board. I am amazed by the personal attacks of the article. I am amazed how this was taken out of context. I went back and listend to the entire hour of that GB show. The lady who called was READING a script word for word taken from Michael Moore's SICKO. GB new that and was doing comedy.

GB, Rush, Hannity et al. will all be off the airways in 6 months. The Broadcaster Freedom Amendment sponsored by G.Walden of OR and M.Pence of IN has been defeated. FCC Commissiooner M.Copps has stated, "If markets cannot produce what society really cares about, then government has a legitimate role to play." Plain and simple, censorship is on the way.

America, this is not about Cap and Trade or the environment. It is not about Health Care. It is not about the coming Amnesty Bill. It is about POWER. America cannot afford these programs, but methinks governments don't go broke. No, they inflate thier money and increase tyranny. Enjoy!!!!!

Phoebe,
If I'm reading your silly post correctly you're saying that if it was in Micahel Moore's film SICKO it has to, by definition, wrong?
Is that what you meant Phoebe?
Sorry girlfriend but we'll need a bit more to go on than the word of a Bushy that this or that is false.
We rely on facts here girlfriend.
Not "Iraq had WMDS" facts but actual facts.
So, if you're so sure Michael Moore is wrong, provide us with the facts that support your claim!

I loved how ignorant repubs like Phoebe here knock Michael Moore's movie SICKO but still, to this day, fail to provide even one scrap of evidence that the facts presented in that great documentary are false!
Face it, if you support our current healthcare system (currently the most expensive on the planet but oddly the 37th best in care provided) you're pretty stupid!

Phoebe, as the country will be under "tyranny", as you say, are you going to move? Suddenly you think it's all about POWER. Where have you been? Don't you remember the previous administration, as well as some who are still hanging around (DC for one) making demands.

Boboday555, in your short post you called me: "a Bushy", "ignorant repub", "stupid" and "silly". That was my point. If all we do is call each other names how do we enter into a substantive dialog? BTW I was not making any judgement on SICKO, I was just giving context for the "comedy" of GB. I didn't like his rant.

If I google MM Sicko fact check I get 65,000,000 hits. Is it 100% correct? probabley not. Check out a book called "Innovator's Prescription" by Clayton Christensen. He argues for lowering cost through "precision medicine" from the human genome project and stem cell research. But, I still don't think this story is about health care as I stated. Smoke and mirrors.

OSCARTUCKER, you are 100% correct. Bush started this bailout mess. And the Demos are taking us to the same place. Read FDR's second Bill of Rights, he was a "progressive" and universal health care was in there. Along with housing, jobs, crop subsidies, and free university. The WWII thing got in his way! But, that is how you shore up a base (POWER). Make sure the government is the answer (tyranny).

BTW, I voted for Gore and Ron Paul

Glenn Beck and Fox-Kids; tirelessly fighting for the insurance companies.

The saddest part about the whole Healthcare issues is that Fox-Kid's base, most of who are uneducated, laborers and who would benefit the most from affordable single payer healthcare have joined the Fox-Kids "entertainers" in undercutting the very plan that their own uninsured kids would benefit from.

Man...racism, sexism and homophobia are pwoerful biases aren't they?
The Fox-Kids base of NASCAR boys will allow their own kids to suffer without healthcare rather than get on board the Single Payer plan.
A plan that would allow these boys to, not only, provide healthcare for their kids but, with the money they save, they could put a down payment on that new trailer.

Ignorance is the biggest hurdle to getting Single Payer healthcare passed.
Ignorance of the below average Fox-Kids viewer.

Ignorance is bliss to Republicans. It maintains the status quo. For years now the Republican rich have brainwashed the ignorant and poor (especially white and Southern) to get them to join their ranks to "create" a majority party. In reality, the Repugs have no intention of "helping" this arm of their party. It has worked well for them in the past and if we don't get this economy on track they will be back to haunt us again in the next election cycle. The bad economy is the fault of bad policy made by both parties in the past, plus, unmitigated greed. But, if the Democratic party in power doesn't show improvement and progress during its' reign, the opposing party will take its place in 2012. If a health care plan does not get passed, it will be unfortunate and I dread President Palin.

No one has the right to talk to people like the right wing talk show hosts do. Do their listeners actually like sceams and insults? Does any information ever get thru in a rant? All I heard was mocking repetiton of what the poor woman was trying to say. How incredibly childish, to say the very least. I don't listen to these guys and will never understand their fans. The right does have some articulate people don't they? They must or how else could it be that Obama is now closer to their point of view on healthcare than to his own original view. He certainly is not being persuaded by the likes of Beck.

I dislike rant, as well. But, it works well for many people, believe me. I have a male friend who, when he is off from work, spends most of his time at home agreeing and laughing with the rightwing TV media or otherwise watching sports (if he hasn't fallen asleep in his reclining chair with the remote locked in his hand). I don't think he has ever read a book in his life or done anything on the computer but email (and that is usually spent forwarding bigoted jokes). I feel sorry for his wife who usually spends all her time on her cell phone with her airhead girlfriends.

I never watch TV news of any kind myself. I get all my news off the internet. I am a liberal, but I try to read from both ideologies to keep informed. It is much more soothing to read opinion and news than to hear it blasted at me from some overpaid blowhard on TV or radio who simply is laughing all the way to the bank.

You sound exactly like me in the second paragraph. And I know a few people like that in the first paragraph. All of them men, along with 1 woman. They think 30 minutes spent watching Fox News is 30 minutes well spent by keeping themselves well informed. But they always act shocked whenever I'm the one talking about things that they have no clue about. Think they I'm brilliant, psychic, even eerily supersmart, in tune with the world. I lie sometimes and agree with them just to hear them gush about me.

I'll never tell them my real secret, the internet and Firefox's web browser where even now, I'm have 20+ tabs open and reading, blogging, listening to music, etc, etc. I'm not really smart as anyone things, I'm just a good multi-tasker who thinks of blogging and debates as chess matches where you have 5 tabs open ahead of time with reference material in case "oh no, he didn't go there...." and you fire back 30 seconds later a complete and long post about the subject they tried to use to their advantage, leaving them stunned, thinking you are psychic. ;o)

Among the many things Beck appears to not understand is how to operate a phone.

Clearly, Beck didn't (and likely still doesn't) know that he simply can hang up and needn't wait for a caller to end the call.

As long as people are stupid enough to listen to this guy, they deserve whatever happens in this country. Unfortunately, the rest of us do not.

Beck is a comedian? Who would have thought?

I like that acronym: Faux News Comedy Channel = FNCN!

They are not anchors... they are comedians and the whole thing is one big joke!
Now it makes sense. The joke's been on us!

Loooooove it (Zachy from Dragon Tales!)

Beck's ranting made him seem so crazy that no one listened to the caller. Massachusetts already has universal health care, and it's failing because the state can't afford it anymore after only three years. It's also failing because even with the surplus of doctors in the state, there are not enough doctors to treat everyone. Cathy from Massachusetts also said that a non-citizen can walk into a hospital in France and get free medical care, and that is why the French system is better. That happens here all the time, and it's one of the aspects of our system that needs to be fixed, not emulated. She assumed that no one in Beck's family has ever been sick - how does she know? She also said that Beck doesn't care about the trillions Obama spent to bail out the banks. Well, I think his screeching indicated that he is very angry about it. Cathy from Massachusetts should have educated herself a little more before attacking someone on his own talk show. Apparently Cathy watched "Sicko", became enraged and thought she knew all she needed to know about health care. So, the documentary film maker and the talk show host win, because we are all listening to them.

The Massachusetts plan does not work for a variety of reasons, just one of which is that it is NOT a true single payer health care plan. The Mass. plan is an example of what happens when you let private insurance companies run the show. If you want an example of one that does work, try Vermont, Canada, France, England Sweden or the Netherlands. Frankly, if private insurance goes out of business I don't give a crap. No one has the right to make a profit on my health !
