I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Nutlog Fox News Channel comedian Glenn Beck was apparently doing his radio show today, when he finally got so sick of what some caller was telling him about health care in the Netherlands that he went to his "death metal" place, angrily spitting envenomed barbs of invective back at the lady on the other line. It was crazy and growly and scary! But that was nothing! Mere seconds later, when the woman said something to the effect that Beck didn't care about people without health care, and yet he was cool with big bank bailouts, Beck somehow found a much higher level of TOTAL CRAZYSAUCE than ever before! Suddenly, Beck was emitting horrifying high-pitched shrieks, wailing, "GET OFF MY PHONE! GET OFF MY PHONE!" and a bunch of other terrifying stuff that only dogs can hear. Jeezy creezy the guy is just all messed up inside!

[LISTEN]

Of course, it's probably true that the woman had never tuned in to Beck's radio show before because, if she had, she would know that Beck really isn't a fan of the bank bailouts. She'd also know that his opinion on health care reform is basically limited to whining about that one time he went in for ass-surgery and barely survived to make a terrifying YouTube video in the style of the Blair Witch Project about how he had scary drugged-up visions that left him angry that the people who treated him at the hospital did not give him the rich-person compassion that he felt he deserved.

Anyway, Glenn Beck screaming like a cartoon mouse being stabbed in the scrotum with knitting needles is your new, terrifying ringtone. Warning: Once you listen to this clip, you can never un-listen to it.

Ok I listened to this clip at 3:45 AM. Apparently that was not the smartest idea, as Beck's screech woke my wife up who came out to ask me what the hell I was doing on the computer. lol

While listening to that SAD excuse for a human being, I couldn't help but scream back at him. Are you sure it wasn't a combination of your screams and his that woke your wife?

How can any of his ilk DARE to call themselves "right-to-lifers"?

I do not consider the proposed health care reforms to be in the best interest of my family. Am I supposed to forget that and support the reforms for the good of everyone? Sounds like Socialism to me.

How about the best interests of your country? does that ever get factored into your equation? I don't understand why people expect to be guaranteed a profit on every penny they pay into social programs. Your profit is a civilized society, and to my mind, that is in the best interest of every family

Do you think the health care reforms are in the best interests of the country? If yes, then you support them, if no, then you don't. It's as simple as that, and you don't have to throw around buzzwords like "Socialism" that you don't seem to understand very well.

I too have great health insurance and good health in my family. I certainly do not assume that either of these is certain to continue as it appears that you do. Regardless, I would gladly pay more in taxes so that others can access what I believe is a basic right, adquate health care.

Even if you're paying $10,000 a month, you do not have "great" health insurance.
Any program you have, will have clauses that allow your insurance company to pay as little as possible when you need help and to deny services THEY deem unnecessary or "experimental". Experimental is a code word they use to get out of paying for what you're entitled to under the plan you paid for. In the US, bone marrow transplant is considered "experimental" by insurance companies, but in Europe, the practice saves thousands of lives every year - and yes, those are paid for by their Universal Health Care systems.
The deck is stacked in the insurance companies' favor, because they are not in the business of providing you with medical care, they are in the business of profiting from your premiums. They can't do that if they have to pay for whatever medical care you may need whenever you may need it.

They will find a way to screw you. Trust me on this.
If you don't, that's fine. But I hope you will never need them, because when you do, they will screw you. That's what they do. All of them. And don't let anyone tell you different.

I am willing to pay more in taxes if I am assured that I live in a society where people have equal access to healthcare. Why must healthcare and profit go hand in hand?

Not so sure how true this is but I kinda believe it; a co-worker of mine once said that there were researchers for pharmaceutical companies that had a good idea on how to stop HIV but they don't pursue it because it's there was no profit in it. Believe what you will about that but we all know that we have heard the rumors.

Remember Chris Rock said, "They will never find a cure for AIDS. The pharmaceuticals co. will just make it so that you can live with AIDS because they want you to keep coming back."

When it comes to life and death, sick and well, it shouldn't be about profit.

If he or his family have never been ill, how can he talk to anyone who has and can't afford it? Foreigners coming to the US for health care? Yeah, and they pay for it. He just can't handle anyone who doesn't see it his way. Good for her. She held her own until he started with the screaming. Thanks Jason, but I'll never listen to him again.

Prime Ministers and millionaires come to the U.S. for treatment? They also go to France or Switzerland or any number of other countries for those treatments. In any case, I care what ordinary citizens get, not what the millionaires can afford.

2. Now that I've listened to the recording all I have say is: apparently Beck's "story" about being a recovering alcoholic is not just a story. I mean, he's clearly off the wagon. I thought this recording would have me rolling on the floor laughing, but just like with all the truly pathetic republicans, I only feel pity. . .

Current average cost per year, per person for health care--
United States: $6700.
Canada: $3700.
France: $3400.
Germany: $3400.
Sweden: $3200.
Australia: $3000.
UK: $2800.
Japan: $2500.
Taiwan: $752.
(Wikipedia)

I still don't understand how the opposition can keep saying health care reform can't be paid for. Americans are paying about twice, per person, what people in other civilized countries are paying. And the insurance companies claim they will "try to reduce costs" (hah, very funny). So if the fat is trimmed from the insurance companies, gee, there are suddenly about TWICE the dollars available to pay the bills!

because the OPPOSITION for health reform are the greedy CEO's of the insurance companies, the pharmaceutical companies, the health related firms and everyone else who's in bed together. They need the status quo to remain wealthy from the suffering of fellow Americans. The US is corrupt with greed and everything comes down to money and fleecing it from the rest of us. THIS is our great shame as a nation . HEALTH care should be a right for all Americans not something companies make great wealth from. Our government fails us year after year

Before the Cuban Revolution, Cuba had the third-highest number of doctors per capita in Latin America[2], the mortality rate was the third lowest in the world[2], infant mortality rate was the lowest in Latin America and the 13th lowest in the world[2][3], and life expectancy was some ten years higher than the Latin American average.
And it was free to EVERY citizen. That is how a Health Care system should be run.

Or to Germany, where they're making the latest high-tech medical equipment, or to Switzerland, where some of the latest research in pharmaceuticals can be found.

"We're Number One!" is a fine sports chant, but isn't really adequate as a political philosophy.

If they have the money to pay for it maybe. I don't have that kind of money. I'll take second-rate healthcare that I can afford, over the first-rate kind that's way out of my price range so I have to settle for none, any old day.

We are self employed. We cannot buy into a larger group, so our family of 5 pays $11,760 per year for health insurance coverage. THAT'S BEFORE we begin paying our $3,000 out of pocket costs before benefits kick in.

Would I rather pay $6,700 more in taxes for guaranteed, can't-be-cancelled-because-I-got-sick, lower deductble coverage? YOU BETCHA!

Yea, tricking the tricksters is the only thing that will work, and we could have some fun at it.

Hey and if anyone can just get healthcare free at a hospital as Glenn Beck says then why is anyone paying for health insurance? What if all who believe we should have healthcare reform dropped their insurance or refused to pay their premiums for awhile? Insurance companies would have to find their profits from Glenn Beck and his followers. And, we would have the best healthcare reform on the planet in short order. I'm 50 and have no health insurance and I work full time, my company doesn't offer it, and I can't afford it. It's risky business but at least I try to stay healthy I have no other choice. But maybe it's worth the risk that I am not contributing to Insurance Co. profits, hey and there's always the hospital, right? LOL

Since Glen didn't tell her about France's health care system and apparently can't provide any details until his book comes out, here's how it works.

France charges a health care tax - it is a percentage based on your income. All doctors and hospitals are privately owned, they are not government run (therefore, not socialist).

There are also insurance companies in France (also private) who sell supplemental policies to cover what their government plan does not. About 90% of the population has a supplemental insurance policy.

You pick your own provider. Go when you need to. You pay a nominal co-pay and the rest is billed to the government plan. Anything not covered by that plan is then sent to the insurance for their payment.

They pay roughly 1/2 what we do for health care. It's not free. Nothing is ever free, but it is a modest amount compared to what we are paying,

The World Health Organization places France #1 in health care results and they have the lowest mortality rate in the world. We are about 37, as I recall.

Agreed treetracker, with a few tweeks!! (I live there for part of the year).
Fra\nce has an excellent healthcare system and importantly, the french people are proud of it and are only to happy (as tax contributions go!!) to contribute towards it.
See my post above.

Maybe i'll be the first to say this, but Glenn Beck is right. He's a total waste of human skin, but he's right... sort of.

Universal health care in the US is doomed to failure.

Not because it can't be done, but because we're not willing to do what is necessary to ensure that every tax payer's dollar goes as far as it can go.

OF COURSE people from other countries come here for treatment. THEY HAVE TO.
If you're a specialist, you come to the US because you know you can charge as much as you feel like it. Where are people going to shop around to, China?

Our medical system is wonderful..... if you're wealthy.
But if you're pulling two jobs to make ends meet, you're worthless to the system, so why bother right Glenn?

Private insurance companies have only one motivation, the accumulation of profit.

1. We need to Nationalize the private insurers to change their primary motivation to one of producing efficient, cost effective care.
2. We need to define in clear terms what the fair cost of a procedure is.
3. We need to know before hand how much a doctor is going to cost us, NOT after.
4. We need to be able to freely transfer our COMPLETE medical history between doctors in order to shop around.

And most importantly, we must change the focus of the system to one of preventative care.

Sadly, we're still playing footsie with the Insurance companies.

PHONY "right-to-lifers" and the FILTHY RICH do not believe that the HARD-WORKING MIDDLE CLASS are "entitled" to a LIVING wage WITH healthcare benefits.
