Is there any crime you will not support? Torture raping kids is probably just your speed.

On December 1, 2005, Yoo appeared in a debate in Chicago with University of Notre Dame professor Doug Cassel. During the debate Cassel asked Yoo, "If the president deems that he's got to torture somebody, including by crushing the testicles of the person's child, there is no law that can stop him?", to which Yoo replied "No treaty." Cassel followed up with "Also no law by Congress -- that is what you wrote in the August 2002 memo...", to which Yoo replied "I think it depends on why the President thinks he needs to do that." - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Yoo

Republicans created their own law which made child rape and sexual mutilation perfectly legal. They also say they can take your children out of school anytime they need them.

Jesusland keeps inviting me over to drink koolaid and I appreciate it and all but, for starters, being the athiest I am I'm not entirely certain they would allow me to enter Jesusland....and secondly, we were force fed Koolaid when I was growing up and it had bugs in it which is why we called it "bug juice" on camp outs and such. Either way Jesusland, don't let anyone ever tell you you're not a good christian for inviting some of over for koolaid

Fl. Governor Charlie Crist says President Barack Obama's stimulus package is working and there will be no need for more stimulus.
Crist said the money was a life saver. He said the job picture would be far worse in Florida were it not for the bailout money.

They have been at his throat ever since he signed a bill iifting a draconian ban on voting rights for people that have been convicted of crimes. needless to say it had a lot to do with Bush winning Florida in 2000. After the ban was lifted Florida went Blue soon after, and will probably not go red for a long time.

The rednecks down here in Florida really are P'd off with Crist. They see him as a traitor because he does not tow the republican party line. He is one of the few good politicians in the Party and he has been a good governor here in Florida. He is more dedicated to common sense than right wing ideology.

For all the people that have stated that this program is only a propasal (sigh)

When is the last time a proposal was about to train assasination squads? Where are the monies that went in to this (sigh) proposal?

And back to the question you seem to be avoiding al together. How does a program that has existed since 2001 be non-existant? What the h#ll are we talking about here ghosts?

They just move their lips and random words come out. It is done without any real thought or reason.

I wonder why they also miss the point that the only reason this program was halted was because Panetta put a stop to it? This program would still be continuing because those involved did not stop it of their own volition.

There are provisions for notification if they was imminent danger afterward. But otherwise they are to notify or should notify when they have programs going.

Our country has had an opportunity to see what happens when nepotism is practiced. We should fight against it in every instance where it is not warranted. Favors to daddy to help the backward son should be outlawed, and if an instance of its existence is discovered, those involved should be ostrisized.

Republicans lecturing us on national security is amusing. It's like taking advice on family values from CharlesManson.

One point many are missing in this debate is "war on terror". "War on terror" is infinite and perpetual because terrorism exists in many forms with no boundaries or country per se. Our society became complacent and in some cases complicit in allowing the past executive branch to use the "powers of war" between countries for something in the abstract; thus we are faced with reeling back said power for an abstract cause. The bottom line in this debate should not and is not what programs exists or existed, but how do our society control any executive branch from evoking such powers at will just because that branch declares a war on whatever and how are the citizens protected by congress from rogue powers existing. History has shown that if mechanisms are not in place to control rogue power great harm can be brought upon its people and the world. Regardless of whether or not the program was operational, who did or knew what and when, or the cost to sit around for 8 years just thinking, IMO, said powers should never be given for something so infinite. We are faced today with defining and clarifying rule after rule for given power because so many were being controlled by their personal and created fear of what if. What ifs will happen and we cannot control the whens and hows, that's a product of life. Clearer lines need to be drawn to make sure our system of checks and balances work properly.
