Meghan McCain: "Joe the Plumber -- You Can Quote Me -- Is A Dumbass"

In an interview with OUT magazine, Meghan McCain spoke freely on her support for gay marriage -- and her dislike of some conservative mouthpieces.

Unprompted, McCain rails against the man her father's presidential campaign touted as an American everyman and made a showpiece in the weeks before the election. "Joe the Plumber -- you can quote me -- is a dumbass. He should stick to plumbing."

McCain also said she'd "be flattered to be considered the anti-Ann Coulter, the anti-Rush Limbaugh."

Author James Kirchick added in a blog post that there's still one controversial campaign figure McCain won't discuss:

Interestingly, while McCain is more than happy to bash the man whom her father celebrated for weeks on end, the one part of the campaign McCain will not talk about is Sarah Palin.

if she is not McCain, she would have gotten more credit for her bravery but being McCain makes it ironic that the Daughter of the Man who like to sing how much he love American and how he fall in love with America as POW etc, the Country first President.

Although she could do them a world of good Meghan McCain has absolutely no future in the Republican party. Actually she might not even want a future in the party, at least politically, but she certainly isn't doing them any harm with the moderates and social conservatives in the party. There is much to gain from a positive thinking younger Republican but all of the old white men (excuse me Michael Steele) running the party won't hear a word she's saying unless she whispers in their ear. One Meghan McCain is worth 100 Liz Cheneys any day!

It is not the RNC that is raising our taxes, it is all the socialistic programs that have been and are being created. Let's say that you do a kicin job in college and receive a 4.0 GPA, but your friend Waldo is only getting a 1.5.....th­e Dean approaches you and says that we have to even this out as Waldo is not going to pass we are going to give him part of your 4.0. So now instead of a 4.0 you are carrying a 2.7 and Waldo has a 2.3. Is this fair? It is the same way that your mighty leaders feel about you. I would like to know more about the context of what Mehgan McCain said. The photo looks as though he was confiding in her--did he say something that either offended her or somehow made her come to such a conclusiton? Not that I have a different conclusion--I agree but I never met him. I just wonder if he's as dim as he comes across.

I think the photo is probably a file stock photo from the campaign. Just something that shows the two of them together.

I don't think the photo is related to the magazine interview in any way.

I disagree. Although I might not agree with everything she says, it is refreshing to see someone in the republican party that is young, and somewhat progresive (pro-gay marriage, anti-limbaugh et al etc). She is young and seems engaged, perhaps still clueless but who knows, with time, a progresive view in the GOP is what the party needs to get out of their wingnut ideology.

Agree with you Steve. I like her more every time I see her. As she matures & studies the issues more in depth, she can be a force of change for america. It's not Palin who is the one waiting in the wings -- it is Megan McCain. And I am willing to give her a fair chance to lead her party to a more sensible middle road & not the crazy ideological one they had in the past. I think some lib dems sense this, and they are laying the groundwork to dismiss her as a blonde bimbo. Don't think so........
