I Like ItI Don’t Like It

President Obama threw out the ceremonial first pitch last night at baseball's 2009 All-Star game (video here) and also joined announcers Joe Buck and Tim McCarver to talk about the game and his beloved White Sox.

The President also declined to bailout the National League despite the fact that they haven't won an All-Star game since 1996:

"This is a problem," the president said, asking Buck and McCarver, "what's your best theory on this?" Three or four years' worth of losing is one thing, you can say it's "just happenstance," but this was something else. McCarver cited the American League's designated hitter rule.

"So there's no bailout plan for the National League?" one of the sportscasters asked, laughing.

"No," said the president, "we're out of money."

Good job POTUS - you have multiple talents and you keep trying even those where you do not have huge natural talents

I grew up playing baseball and football, not basketball; my kids play soccer.

People are good at what they do. BO is good at basketball.

He doesn't have a great arm, but he's in waaaaay better shape than me.....

Two for two in predictions? Not true. He's four for four. He picked Florida Gators in NCAA Championship game. Then he picked Lakers in six (won it in five). Gators, Steelers, Tar Heels, Lakers. All I know is he better pick my Dodgers to win the Series.

yea that got me when he said that as he picked the lakers guess he does not count that because he did not get the games it would take them but still

Oh god, he's soooooooooo funny.

What was funny was the fact that he couldn't even throw the first pitch completely to home plate.

Hell, at least Bush threw strikes!!!!

Yeah, but everybody knew baseball was Dubbya's game, so he had to. Personally, considering his sly sense of humor, I suspect Obama threw that rainbow on purpose, elaborate windup and all, as a goof. Just his way of saying hey, I'm trying real hard to be POTUS, don't expect me to be all that and Satchel Page too.

I liked when Obama was asked about his baseball picks this year. He sounded more knowledgeable about baseball than our previous president...who OWNED A BASEBALL TEAM. Surprise, surprise.
