Maybe I'm just lucky genetically, at 47 I can still wear a bikini, but I am not anorexic, just more naturally slender. I eat a lot, all healthy and natural--never needed to diet.

I live in Hawaii and I go to the beach a lot. Honestly everyone wears two pieces regardless of their size. Its how you wear it and your confidence... most people really don't care anyway. I was looking around the other day how many people do you see who look like models walking on the beach.. you won't see very many. Just relax and love yourself but try to be healthy!

How about, instead of articles about "diets", we have more about how people can become healthier. That's what we need, not more diets that offer things like processed food bars, "one point" bars(weight watchers) of processed crap, frozen tv dinners of processed crap, etc, etc. A good book on eating well is French Women Don't Get Fat by Mireille Guiliano...it's not about dieting, it's about eating good food and enjoying it. THAT is what we all need to learn to do, not learn a new way to deprive ourselves.

I DO NOT want to be teenie weenei and I DO NOT think these articles are very help, progressive nor representative of the state of women today. PLEASE gives us a break and banish these cinderella articles to the vault!

Actually, these articles are kind of anti-Cinderella, as the transformations they promote are diminishment.

This is one of my favorite headlines...

I knew there would be much umbrage for women who don't want to lose weight and don't like it when others do...

You DO realize the words "teeny-weenie" and bikini were put together because of the old song, right?

And no anorexic is NOT hot.

But...tight, firm and not an ounce of fat on her body.....super hot.

The term is not referring to the bikini. It's referring to the woman. We know it was an attempt to make a play on words, but it's not about diet tips to make your bikini smaller.

Yeah....it's about making the women IN the bikini smaller....

...which by the way will cause you to need a smaller bikini....thus making your bikini smaller....

Also, not all women are strident about their right to be as fat as they want to be...which IS, in fact, their right.

Some women, however, do want to be attractive.

Good for them.

I'm not bikini ready but where I live, it doesn't really matter. Women, young, old, in between wear them whether they look good in them or not.

Welcome to my world in a tourist town on the central Florida east coast.

There is only one diet that works.

Eat Less
Exercise More

It is a simple concept, but its hard work and everybody wants that magic bullet. You won't find it. Even if you lose weight it's impossible to stay on a diet like that for life and the weight will inevitably come back. Heck, even what you eat isn't as important as how much you eat. This is the order of importance:
Quantity of Food
Exercise
Quality of Food

Of course, the healthier you eat the better you will feel, but for losing weight you could eat a cheeseburger for dinner as long as you did enough exercise. Change your lifestyle slowly. This is for life, so baby steps are fine. Time is on your side when you start eating less and exercising more. Don't ever get discouraged by the speed of weight loss. If you follow the "common sense" diet it will take care of itself. Have the strength to forgive yourself for mistakes and make short goals that are obtainable but challenging.

Save your money and listen to what you have been told since grade school. Again, because its worth repeating, there is no magic bullet. Losing weight is hard work. The sooner you can embrace that and get excited about the journey the sooner you will be thin. You don't need a fancy plan. You have a brain and you know what you should be doing. Its not easy, its not glamorous, but its 100% effective.

People are being told they need that "magic bullet" when in fact they don't. We idealize underweight when it's perfectly healthy to carry a few extra pounds. Yes, we should be fit, but being fit and being teenie weenie are two different things.

This is not what women need. "Teeny weeny" is OK for children and pre-teens, maybe. It's perfectly appropriate for grown up women to have some flesh on their bones for good health. Teeny weeny is not a healthy goal, neither physically or mentally. You are reinforcing a very harmful stereotype.

I couldn't agree more: WHAT is attractive about a woman with no hips, no bust, boney legs, boney shoulders, a skinny neck and scrawny face? NOTHING! We go to extremes in this country, and it shows what weirdos we've become: evidence of this is our mania for and glorification of anorectic teens and young adults. Give me a woman who looks like a WOMAN, and I'll be happy: leave the starving beauties on the runway, where they belong....

Those starving models don't belong on the runway, either. Katie Green, a model of normal proportions who was told to lose 28 pounds is petitioning Parliament in London to ban anorexic models:

No thank you. I don't want to become TEENY WEENY (anorexic) I want to be healthy and happy, keep my bones and muscles, be able to have normal womanly functions and live a long and productive life in or out of a bikini.
