Bob gets it all the message Christ brought us as well as his Jewish roots...it's seamless in may ways especially if you learn all you can about The Essenes and Sons of Light of which Jesus the greatest and thus so terribly scourged...that's why the darkness came at noon...

This is a really stupid article...it is obviously just a cheap shot at Jimmy Carter. Is the Post simply a mouthpiece for right wingers who will twist any facts to dump on Democrats?

It takes cheap shots at Dylan too. Fluffpo should take it off.

of Vincent Price for this advertisement...

LOLLLL! There is a difference...Vincent had class, style and down-to-earth charm...and Dylan could NEVER work a smoking-jacket.

Most of whats in that article is nonsense.

Except for a few brief stretches, Bob had been bedhopping and doing drugs (and alchohol) for most of his adult life. In the early years of his first marriage, he cleaned up most of his act and retreated from that type of scene. In the early 70's he returned to his old ways and it eventually cost him his marriage. Also, Bob was never a "hippie".

My understanding of his flirtation with Christianity is that it began in the late 70's when he began a relationship with one of his backup singers. She was a no-nonsense Christian girl who wasnt in awe of him and he found that appealing. Curious about most subjects, Bob began to study Christianity, attended Church regularly and it began to influence his music.

The release of Infidels in 1983 marked a turn away from this phase of his life/career.

BUT many of the other versions of it are better than his. Try the Michael Hedges version. WOW.

Why trade one for the other? Hes so smart and yet he needs a man in the sky to tell him right from wrong...?

His religious period was decades ago, and it didn't last very long.

Nah. He's always been religious, even if not overtly.

I'm a huge Dylan fan, and I'm sure Jimmy Carter has forgiven him. Looking forward to a Page Six follow-up on this hot topic!

Last I heard, Dylan wasn't religious at all. He even wrote songs about it. Who cares? Being religious doesn't change anything and yeah he's lost his voice some but he can still write great songs. That's all he ever did anyway. His voice was only there to tell the story. It's NOT a singing voice. Dylan doesn't sing, he talks with inflection and attitude and occasionally hits a note or two. He does it on purpose. He sang "Lay Lady Lay" and a few others but the rest of his songs are just him talking in rhyme with occasional notes thrown in for effect. If you don't get it that's your problem, not his.

His religion is totally irrelevant as is everyone's.

I have been to 4 Dylan concerts. I understand he gets tired of singing a song the same way over and over. And I respect his self discipline to not be anyone's puppet. I do complain when he shreds the melodies that we grew up and loved into something unrecognizable,..like Rolling Stone,..that melody is one of the best ever written in my view. But,..because he has such strong individuality,.and is one of the best poets and songwriters on the planet,..I dont get so mad that I would call him names, like child who is mad for not getting their way. He is the man! And he can do anything he wants. How many other famous people can you name that dont suck up to the fame and "do everything that pleases everyone?

There are actually a number off them. Miles Davis, Nina Simone, Dorothy Donegan, Barbara Streisand, Ray Charles, Charles Mingus, Carol King, Joni Mitchell. In fact, a great many genuine artists and performers sooner or later learn to do their own thing, and be who they are regardless of what the public might want. It's the road to sanity for them.

Don't forget Tom Waits, who won't use his music to sell crap. It's why he sued Frito-Lay--they used "Step Right Up" without his permission, which he would have refused to give...as he's put it, "I'm a musician, not a salesman."

1967-1970 Jefferson Airplane was one of the hottest live acts on the planet. Hendrix tried repeatedly to entice Jack Cassady to leave JA for his band. JA never played the same arrangement of a song - they were often more like a improvisational jazz ensemble than a rock band. People who only know the band after that period will disagree - and they should - they soared for 3 - 4 years and that was it but they were stellar at their peak.
