Cheyenne Cherry: NYC Teen Admits To Leaving Kitten In Oven To Die

NEW YORK -- A New York City teenager has admitted that she failed to let a kitten out of an oven after a friend put the animal inside and left it to roast to death.

After pleading guilty to charges of animal cruelty and attempted burglary on Wednesday, 17-year-old Cheyenne Cherry confronted a row of animal activists outside the courtroom. Cherry stuck out her tongue and told the activists that the kitten named Tiger Lily was "dead."

Authorities say Cherry and a 14-year-old friend ransacked a Bronx apartment before putting the cat in the oven, where it cried and scratched before dying.

The 14-year-old was charged with aggravated animal cruelty and burglary in the May 6 incident.

Cherry will serve a year in jail under a plea bargain.

this is clearly someone who should NEVER be out on the street again. she has a history of committing robberies and other animal abuses.

there is no way this monster should ever see the light of day again. a year behind bars is merely a slap on the wrist for someone who is, quite clearly, a sociopath.

No, a lead pipe would be a quick death to a despicable creature. It is not the karmic equivalent to a slow agonizing death to an innocent animal who could not understand what or why this was happening to it - a baby animal at that. All it could know was pain. This story made me feel physically sick all day. My only hope is that her name and face is remembered for a long time and by many, and karma really does play out, and in spades!

You said it. Stories like this make me sick as well, and makes me at times wish for an eye for an eye type of retribution. These types of people have no empathy, no redeemable qualities in my opinion and I wish I didn't have to share this planet with them.

Monsters really do exist and the most frightening thing is that most of the time they don't look like monsters. You can't cure a sociopath. They are born without a soul, or conscience if you will. I've wondered if such an one should even be considered human. If that's true then they are not entitled to human rights!

We humans are obligated to treat them humanely but we should have the right to be protected from them. We'll be hearing about Cheyenne Cherry again and it won't be good news. A year in jail is just a year for her to learn new ideas to try when she gets out.

I agree. Anyone torturing animals, especially "for fun" doesn't deserve to be out on the street. I'm more concerned about these idiots than people locked up for growing marijuana or stealing a car.

This is inexcusable! Anyone who thinks this kind of behavior is acceptable needs to be locked up along with these two monsters. I'd like to throw her and her friend into an oven and see how she likes it. A year in jail is nothing - there is something inherently wrong with these girls.

There is no help for sociopaths. They are immoral and do not change. She will be in the criminal justice system for the rest of her life. Wait and see.
