Ratigan

On Thursday morning's episode of MSNBC's "Morning Meeting", host Dylan Ratigan and Contessa Brewer discussed President Obama's much-talked-about first pitch at Tuesday night's Major League Baseball All Star Game.

"A lot of people, Rush Limbaugh included, seem to think that the President throws like a girl," Brewer said.

Saying that she found nothing wrong with the pitch, Brewer then turned the tables on commentators like Limbaugh and St. Louis conservative Mark Reardon, asking "what are you saying about the way girls throw? Have you seen a girl throw?"

"No, girls don't throw that well, generally speaking," Ratigan said.

After a brief awkward silence and some incredulous sighs, Brewer exited off-camera.

"It's true though," Ratigan stammered. "The truth sometimes hurts."

The show then went to commercial, with a somewhat baffled Ratigan saying he would use the break to "try to reconcile with Contessa." Brewer could be heard off-camera saying something about "beat[ing Ratigan] up."

Many of the women on MSNBC often giggle and such to what the male bigots, homosexual haters and racism that runs abound on this channel. They could really bring Reagan and Imus back. Keep up the rhetoric and pretend to be offended.

Why is this a news line? Seriously? And why do people get all huffed up over this, anyway? The truth is most women CAN'T throw. Like at all. It's because a huge majority of women have never played anything like baseball, softball, or football. Now, it's true a lot of men can't throw, either (Looking at you, Obama) but statistically speaking a MUCH larger proportion of men have played baseball or football when they were younger and thus have learned to do something that remotely resembles a proper throwing motion.

Now, it's entirely possible that with practice anyone can learn how to throw properly. But UNTIL they do that, they can't throw. Since MOST women haven't practiced, they can't throw. And since MOST women can't throw, it's easy to say "hey, you throw like a girl!" to someone that can't.

Might be a news line as the Right WingNutz continue to offend.

LimpBlob tried to equate a male throwing a ball to a female thus making him less of a man.

I know it is hard to believe that this idiocy continues.

It's like a guy on the Titanic making ice jokes.

This whole bs that women can't throw is ridiculous. Women who practice can throw, just like men who practice can throw. The disparity is that for a long time most women didn't play the types of sports that men played. That saying will slowly fade away as more and more women play baseball, football, etc.

You comment's not completely true. Women's arms are different from men's and it's harder for a woman to throw overhand. Just compare your outstretched arm to that of a man and notice the twist in women's forearms which makes it harder to throw straight and with power overhanded! When our PE teacher explained that to us, it really took a lot of pressure of the girls in the class because there was no way we could match the distance or speed of the boys and it made us feel inferior -- when it fact it was just a physical difference.

Maybe about 5% of women know how to throw a baseball ,( or rather can throw )
About 15% of men throw like a girl which means they can't throw well.
My father couldn't throw a ball the right way and neither could my best friend who was an athlete in other sports

I like how you throw out statistics like you know what you are talking about. Where are you getting your numbers, anyway? From you @$$?

Tell ya what, Dylan can stand there and I'll pelt him with things, perhaps afterwards he'll reassess how girls throw.

Do I then get to throw things at Contessa to find out who throws better?

so THAT's where Contessa went! I was wondering where she, Alex, and Monica had gone.

They should replace Ratigan with these three, in other words, put it back the way it was before.

And Nancy Snyde? Still not supporting the public option? That's really bad timing on her part!

Put it back the way it was. Not thrilled with Carlos, nice guy, but doesn't ask the right questions.

It's a condescending statement but not without it's nugget of truth. Sure plenty of women can throw a mean fast ball but on the whole I am willing to be there are more men hurling 90 mph fastballs than women. It's just the way it is. Calm down.

Truth hurts sometimes. Lets have a contest Contessa. There is a physical difference between men's and women's elbows. Think it has something to do with carrying babies, but I am often wrong.

Yuck.

I had to watch it again! She's very good-looking, by the way(sorry feminist, I mean it in the most respectful way). The way he said ,"she'll be back", is what a man says to his friends when he finds out that his wife is leaving him. (LOL) It is an awfully macho thing to say in light of the fact that you have just insulted your colleague.

I love her reaction! She looked like she was ready to punch him. She walked away rather than putting her foot in her mouth like he did. You could tell how embarrassed he was after wards, while trying to keep his composure. He blew it, and wouldn't shut up about it after wards. I call it the Limbaugh disease.

Wow really? More physically stronger? I guess that's to make up for the lack of intelligence.
