Ratigan

On Thursday morning's episode of MSNBC's "Morning Meeting", host Dylan Ratigan and Contessa Brewer discussed President Obama's much-talked-about first pitch at Tuesday night's Major League Baseball All Star Game.

"A lot of people, Rush Limbaugh included, seem to think that the President throws like a girl," Brewer said.

Saying that she found nothing wrong with the pitch, Brewer then turned the tables on commentators like Limbaugh and St. Louis conservative Mark Reardon, asking "what are you saying about the way girls throw? Have you seen a girl throw?"

"No, girls don't throw that well, generally speaking," Ratigan said.

After a brief awkward silence and some incredulous sighs, Brewer exited off-camera.

"It's true though," Ratigan stammered. "The truth sometimes hurts."

The show then went to commercial, with a somewhat baffled Ratigan saying he would use the break to "try to reconcile with Contessa." Brewer could be heard off-camera saying something about "beat[ing Ratigan] up."

MSNBC show host does not THINK that well generally. And he screams in a high pitched voice to make a point...so girlish!

What's the issue here?

The vast majority of men are better athletes than the vast majority of women? Are there exceptions? Sure.

But here is all the proof you need....anytime there is a girl/woman who is really REALLY good....she no longer wants to play against women (because they aren't good enough) and want to compete against men.

Case closed.

If you need MORE proof, just know that there have NOW been 3....THREE slam dunks....EVER.....in the history of the WNBA. Each time it was a front page sports section story.

Three dunks in the history of the league....I'm sure Shaq has done that in a minute.

Girls do better in grade school than boys. Women are smarter than men. Case closed.
Women live longer than men. Women are genetically superior to men. Case closed.
Women can conceive a child. Women are biologically superior to men. Case closed.
There is no "case closed". How closed minded. We are different. We do not need to make idiotic and gender based comments in a public broadcast. Bad form, Mr. PinHead.

If grade school were our forum for determining who is the smartest...you'd have a point.

Women do live longer. Agreed.

And my point about the best women athletes wanting to play against men and NOT women is 100% correct.

If you don't like how sure I am about it, fine....dispute it.

Girls or anybody can be taught to throw well, but men have an anatomical advantage in upper body strength which gives them an edge.

Untrue. Some people are just terrible athletes. You ever been to a Little League game?

Count me in -- can't happen soon enuf for me, either.

I read a comment, when Ratigan's show was debuting, from someone who claimed to be a tech on the set, and he/she said that Ratigan was so enamored with his own image on the monitor he would stare at it, for moments at a time -- like he was hypnotized or something -- !!!!!!!

Both he and Nancy are just weepublican prostitutes/lobbyists for Big Biz, anyway -- is it a secret?

Most males grow up spending more time throwing in that kind of overhand way than females who, in general, don't do so as much. It's not a matter of some inherent talent based on gender. It's experience. That's how you can get a Carl Lewis who sucks at it yet won 9 Olympic medals. And a major NFL QB--Trent--who sucks, too. With practice you'd expect them to be better. As can be said for everyone given their general athletic ability and that use of hand-eye coordination. Rattigan is right without giving an accurate explanation that it isn’t necessarily gender (though to some degree it might be) but rather experience.

When push comes to shove, I can throw anything with fabulous precision at anyone (men). Pepper grinders and knives take practice. My sister and I used to throw anything we could find at one another. Good times.

Whenever Contessa Brewer sees Ratigan she should throw whatever is handy. I'll bet she slams him every time.

To be fair, most men don't throw very well, either. Generally speaking. It's true.

Dude, which girl? At what level?

How lousy for both genders to contend with this comparison and competition. It's such an insult to call men 'girls' or 'ladies,' or to be tagged with throwing like a girl.

I've never much thought in terms of throwing like a girl. My 89-year-old dad knows how grateful I am that, after dinner during the summer, it was time to go out and "throw the ball." Taught me how to pitch and catch. This was in the early '60s, and I was born in '55. He taught me how to swim, ride a bike, ski, etc.

Come to think of it, our male grammar-school gym teacher taught all of us in our mixed gym class that "half the catch is in the throw."

I have four older brothers. Back then three of them were real jocks. In adulthood I've been more athletic than three of them. More stamina, more diversity, more attention to body mechanics and stretching.

Frankly, now I'm lousy at throwing, but not because I'm a girl. Prior to Lasik, my vision was 20/1000. I have terrible eye-hand coordination. In junior high I scored tenth percentile in spatial relations. Someone really should have picked up on that.

I now have an atrocious sports relationship with anything round I have to put into motion. And that's real, for sure.

Some women can really throw. No question.

MOST cannot.

POTUS - truth is - girlie throw/

Doesn't matter though cause he can drain the three and he can nail a speech and inspire and lead and isn't that why we hired him?
