Ratigan

On Thursday morning's episode of MSNBC's "Morning Meeting", host Dylan Ratigan and Contessa Brewer discussed President Obama's much-talked-about first pitch at Tuesday night's Major League Baseball All Star Game.

"A lot of people, Rush Limbaugh included, seem to think that the President throws like a girl," Brewer said.

Saying that she found nothing wrong with the pitch, Brewer then turned the tables on commentators like Limbaugh and St. Louis conservative Mark Reardon, asking "what are you saying about the way girls throw? Have you seen a girl throw?"

"No, girls don't throw that well, generally speaking," Ratigan said.

After a brief awkward silence and some incredulous sighs, Brewer exited off-camera.

"It's true though," Ratigan stammered. "The truth sometimes hurts."

The show then went to commercial, with a somewhat baffled Ratigan saying he would use the break to "try to reconcile with Contessa." Brewer could be heard off-camera saying something about "beat[ing Ratigan] up."

Give me a baseball, put me on the mound, and put that bimbo on home plate. I'd be happy to give her a walk after knocking her off her Manolos.

This is a regrettable comment, but NOTHING compared to the misogyny
every single morning on the preceding show.

What's regrettable about the comment? Women are physically weaker than men.

boys have one extra shoulder muscle the trapezius baloneyus that allows them to throw an object overhand with more control.

Ratigan is a jerk, and not that bright for TV.

Him and Nurse Nancy will be canceled before the end of the quarter.

I would think neither boys nor girls (or men or women, for that matter) would throw very well if they have never been taught/trained or practiced. Why do people (read men) think that they are born with the "throwing" gene and girls aren't? Are boys trained in the mechanics of throwing during their portion of s.e.x ed in school? Is that what they are doing?

I was born with said "throwing" gene I guess. I didn't learn how to do it, I just always could.

Put the ball in my left hand and I do throw like a girl though.

I would hope they'd remove their make-up first. That stuff is caked on for the cameras

I saw this live. Not cool.....However, walking off the set in a hissy fit wasn't a strong rebuttal by Contessa....

I don't think Contessa needs to rebut anything.

These shows are scripted and Ratigan, a pro-business republican couldn't help himself.

Do I think Ratigan actually believes women are weaker at throwing a 10 ounce ball then men, I would hope not, but I don't think he could sit there and let Contessa challenge his heroes.

I also must wonder out loud, who is the final producer for MSNBC mornings, I have a feeling that person is more right wing than Mika Joe and Ratigan put together.

I love that he's an expert on this. He's witnessed a lot of girl-throwing in his days.

All in good fun. Actually, the majority of girls can't seem to throw. Never learned any mechanics growing up, I guess..
