Heather Zeo Arrested For Having Sex With Underage Student (VIDEO)

Heather Zeo, a 36-year-old married mother of three who teaches at North Penn High School in Pennsylvania, was arrested for allegedly having sex with one of her underage students. The student described how the relationship escalated from Facebook flirtations to sexual intercourse during a courtroom appearance.

Prosecutors say that Zeo engaged in a "calculated seduction" and that they "will be asking for jail time."

Zeo is also accused of having an inappropriate relationship with another underage student. She is currently out on bail.

The problem I have with Ms. Zeo is the same problem my teachers had with me when I'd sneak candy into class.

She didn't bring enough for everybody.

The major issue in these cases--is the disparity in power. If this were a 36 year old woman who was trying to date and sleeping with a 17 year old student, many might look at it differently. But when it's a teacher-student relationship, sorry it's wrong regardless of the gender of the teacher.

There is a common issue running through all this, namely the age of consen Here are some facts:
In California circa 1875 the age of consent was TEN. Five years later it was raised to 14. In 1920 it was raised further to 18. What group got the age raised?----the Women's Christian Temperance Union, who also brought us Prohibition. They are against Pleasure.
The age of consent is a matter of political will and choice. In some states today it is 15, others 16, others 17 or 18. A "child" is defined as being under that age. It seems to me, based on what young people want, that the age of consent should be lowered from 18 to some lower point, maybe 16----most states have it now at 16. In the time of Jesus, the age of Consent was---get this---TWELVE. Do we know more than Jesus?
I don't want anybody hurt or harmed. But the lack of sex is also hurtful and harmful. Young people are humans going through puberty---cut them some slack.

Contrary to what the Upright Citizens Brigade argues, a lower age of consent is not a license for young people to have sex. It allows inquiry in individual cases to determine whether or not consent was in fact freely given. If consent was not given, then juries and judges can rule accordingly under general rape statutes.

The law should correlate with our biology. The age of consent should be the age we reach puberty.
