Heather Zeo Arrested For Having Sex With Underage Student (VIDEO)

Heather Zeo, a 36-year-old married mother of three who teaches at North Penn High School in Pennsylvania, was arrested for allegedly having sex with one of her underage students. The student described how the relationship escalated from Facebook flirtations to sexual intercourse during a courtroom appearance.

Prosecutors say that Zeo engaged in a "calculated seduction" and that they "will be asking for jail time."

Zeo is also accused of having an inappropriate relationship with another underage student. She is currently out on bail.

As a parent I want my kids to be with a person when the are ready and mature ( mid twenty's) not some opportunist who is a cougar. Each experience leaves scar. She's a teacher, if she was his boss it's still inappropriate.

A friend of mine in high school once gave the same grin when he came to school with a series of hickeys from his (older, collegiate) girlfriend's efforts along his neck and collar. A teacher asked him if he was 'okay' in that 'are you being abused?' way and he gave her such a grin as to make her flush red.

She has the right to raise her kids in whatever non-abusive fashion she wants and its not really our position to codemn her because she is trying her best to raise kids to wait. There's something desperate about the minivan in the Target parking lot. It's so sordid in a pathetic, suburban sort of way.

Talk about low standards and a lack of self-respect. I can't believe that it's that hard to find a guy over the age who wouldn't be willing and I think she has other issues underlying her decision, and I doubt they're healthy. Then again, lots of people have unhealthy psycho-sexual hangups in this country.

Beside the ethical violations inherent in a teacher sleeping with a student, I tend to think a 17 year old is able to give consent.. That opens up a whole legal can of worms, but hey. I had a much older woman proposition me at 16 and I made an informed decision not to get into it. A court would probably label that as some form of coercion and I'd honestly disagree with the court's determination of it. It's not like I was jumped.

I also bring this up; society sends a lot of conflicting messages on this topic, and that adds a whole new layer of complexity to the situation.

It's messy, I sort of envy the people with the simple answers, except that simple answers are often wrong, if we accept Mencken's word on it.

Beyond which, the average 17 year old guy has been looking at porn and magazines, all with somewhat-t­o-signific­antly older women. We're pretty much conditioned to accept it, for the most part, by the time we're 17. The mainstream (at least in popular culture) acceptance of cougars has also played its role in all this. Not that this is new. Anyone remember a recent song entitled "Maggie May?"

I notice most of the people pointing out that this isn't as huge a calamity as it sounds for the 17 year old guy have been 17 year old guys once in their history. I think we all remember what it was like to be 17.

This woman may or may not be a nutcase, but neither she nor Genarlow Wilson should be classified as a pedophile. A pedophile should be defined to be a person attracted to prepubescent children--the kind of people who kidnap and often kill little kids. These are the people who constitute the real threat and who belong in prison and on life long sex offender lists.

The protection of "children" has gone way overboard in a lot of ways. I did work for a woman several years ago who's job it was to defend teachers against accusations of misconduct by students. She described a frightening situation where teachers are guilty until found innocent. The students word is automatically believed over the teacher's. In other words, a vindictive student can put a teacher in prison easily based on a lie. Wake up, people.
