Heather Zeo Arrested For Having Sex With Underage Student (VIDEO)

Heather Zeo, a 36-year-old married mother of three who teaches at North Penn High School in Pennsylvania, was arrested for allegedly having sex with one of her underage students. The student described how the relationship escalated from Facebook flirtations to sexual intercourse during a courtroom appearance.

Prosecutors say that Zeo engaged in a "calculated seduction" and that they "will be asking for jail time."

Zeo is also accused of having an inappropriate relationship with another underage student. She is currently out on bail.

This is just a bad thing for a techer to do..period. Regardless of the sexual aspect of it...It is unprofessional. Any punishement should be judged merely on the fact that this was unacceptable behavior by a teacher...I dont think anyone other than the local school board needs to be putting in their two cents worth...not even me.

Some of the people in this forum really need some professional help.

If a person is going to become a teacher, he/she has to realize that they have to maintain a certain level of professional ethics. Regardless of whether it is legal in a certain state or not, a teacher should NOT ever have a sexual or other inappropriate relationship with their students. That goes for current and former students of that teacher.

I am astounded at the fact that many of you that think it is OK for a teacher to have sex with a student. It is not OK. How can students learn to trust people in authority if a teacher crosses the invisible line between him/her and students? A teacher that does this just perpetuates all of the abuse committed against children in society. That teacher should have their teaching license revoked permanently and serve some serious jail time for their crime.

I think what you are seeing here is a fantasy reaction. All young men fantasize about sleeping with a teacher. But you are right. This isn't healthy, it isn't good. If the roles were reverse and a 38 year old male teacher were sleeping with a 16-17 year old girl people would be outraged. They would be right to be outraged. What you may be seeing is the belief that this is a victimless crime, that this 17 year old kid sleeping with an older woman is somehow lucky somehow ok. She is in a position of authority and as such she should never allow this to happen. It is not a victimless crime but it isn't rape either. It is something other and she should be stopped from teaching anywhere ever again.

That's the problem right there. The United States does not have a national database on teachers that have been convicted as sexual predators. If we had one, she'd never be able to teach in any school district in the country. No where...

I think you are right. That is why these stories (hot young teacher has sex with really lucky teen) are the ones that get the attention. My wife is an educator (or was until she moved on a couple years go to the publishing industry), and assures me that this problem is pandemic in our schools. I know it was problematic when I was in college in the 80s, for no few conferences and talks were given about the problem of sexual abuse and sexual liaisons between teachers and their teenage charges (including men with girls and men with boys). It was during that time that the question was should they be shuffled around, or thrown to the wolves and prosecuted (older readers will remember the movie Teachers that sort of dealt with this problem). But today, it's all about the hot young women fulfilling the male viewers' and readers’ fantasies. And that is a sad commentary all the way around.

You continue to be unable to seperate the legal issue from the professional one. If the kid was of legal age AND it was mutually consensual, then no crime has been commited.

Professionally, the woman should be banned from holding a state license in anything. Yes, yes, yes, a thousand times yes, teachers and students must not be having sex. That is dog bites man issue. A person facing 7 years for consensual sex with a legal adult because she is a teacher? That's man bites dog issue.

These stupid, yes very stupid, prosecutors and parents forget that they had crushes on teachers as kids and would have followed through on them if the teacher had given them the green light.

I expect that these are the prosecutors and parents that they had to hang a pork chop around their neck to get the family pets to play with them when they were kids.

Also kids from my would have lied to the prosecutor instead of getting the teacher in trouble.

Yes, most of us had crushes on teachers... but thankfully most of our teachers were sane adults who knew better than engage in sexual intercourse with their students.

The teachers are the ADULTS and hopefully ROLE MODELS here. If a student starts flirting with a teacher, it's the teacher's responsibility to put him/her into place, not only because those kids are minors, but also because he/she is in a position of authority.

And hopefully, kids that age would not commit perjudy and LIE to a grand jury.... seriously WTH.

If a male teacher had done this to a student, there'd be much less support for the teacher. A sexual predator is a sexual predator. She should be treated as harshly as a male teacher would be.

I don't understand the need for jail time. Sixteen is the age of consent in my state and most others. Is it because she was his teacher? So what? If she had been his supervisor at the post office, it would not even be in the news. This is silly.
