It's kinda risky planning these big weddings and then having the rug pulled out from under you..of course it's way better not to get married when one partner has cold feet ..but why allow for the wedding plans to go full throttle and invitations to friends and family sent out.....

what is it about weddings that get down to the wire that makes men..decide at the last minute they don't want marriage?

We don't know the whole story and we certainly don't know the people in the story. Jerk? Gold-digger? HELLO do some of you know these people personally? ANYWAY! It is always a good idea not to get married if you are having second thoughts. I wish them both the best of luck.

At least he didn't pull an Elaine Robinson and run out during the ceremony or a Jennifer Wilbanks and disappear for 4 days claim he was kidnapped. Breaking it off via email seems cowardly but it's not really surprising.

Well, if they were in different cities, and the wedding was a week and a half away, do you think it would have made more sense to wait. And he did follow up with a phone call.

You missed my point. Breaking off a wedding via email is cowardly, but it could have been worse, had he left her at the alter or faked a kidnapping.

The article is totally inaccurate according to Richard Jefferson. Appearing by phone on the Howard Stern Show on Sirius Satellite Radio this morning, Jefferson stated that an email was sent both to his friends and family and his fiance and her family prior to the day of the wedding. He also had a two hour conversation with Kesha as well. Their relationship had been tumultuous and he didn't want to go forward and enter into a marriage that would more than likely not be successful. He also gave her $200,000 to assist her with any transitional needs.

He also refuted that report that the wedding costs exceeded more than two million dollars. He stated that he spent only a quarter of that amount. He also said that the use of his Black American Express Card by friends was false. In his interview with Stern, Jefferson came off as a caring and responsible guy. Howard had expressed support for Jefferson prior to the interview and felt that the NBA Star had explained the situation openly and honestly and felt that more men and women should be truthful in assessing their relationships even if it gets close to the point of vows being exchanged.

It sounds to me like Jefferson is embarrassed and is covering up. Most of what was reported sounds pretty true, why would the reporters have lied?

to sell papers, to tell a better story? Why do they ever. Besides it isn't really lying if they got it wrong. Just sloppy.

That's pretty much what this article says, if you actually read it.

Other than the fact that he did it via email, i say good for him!

He knows what he wants and he's man enough to but the brakes on the wedding.

Better to end it before the wedding (especially if he is gay).

Trust me when I say, that at the blow up that happen prior to her leaving for New York she already knew. Read the article again people he told his family right after she left for New York there is no way she didn't know, she probably didn't take him serious, thinking, maybe she'd see him in New York, but she knew it was over. Confirmation came over an email, he was wrong that is for sure in his tactics, hense the settlement to get on with her life but they saw it coming.

What I don't understand is why all the hoopla, the decision to marry was not right for him and he did what was right for him and in the long wrong right for her. Why marry someone who doesn't want to be married to you. Women get caught up in the whole glamour of the ceremony, dresss etc of a wedding and ignore reality and when time passes she will think of the reality of the relationship and not the fairy tale and be happier for the decision made.

He's a smart man who made the best decision for himself. Breaking up via e-mail isn't the best way to end a relationship, but no matter how he chose to end it; it would've been bad. He's enough of a gentleman to pay her a settlement so she could move forward. Perhaps more people will follow his lead in the being honest with yourself department before making poor choices and leaping into marriages they know aren't right for them.

I admit it was cold to break up by email, but that's the world we live in. Emails are much less confrontational. There is no easy way to call off a wedding. The email just made it easier for him, but not easier on her. I can only imagine what that woman is going through. I had a friend who's fiance called off the wedding 3 weeks before the date. She cried 3 days non-stop. Plus her father lost a lot of money on the deposits. But if you asked her about it now, she would it was all for the best.

I thought players were not allowed to "fraternize" with other employees. Maybe that is just the Knicks. He got out in time. Get married when your playing days are over RJ.

She should collect the wedding expenses from him, notifying him of the suit by e-mail.

Tell a woman to shut up because you disagree with her.Oh yea--- we can see you have a good attitude when it comes to women-- and probably really good relationships--
