Guantanamo

ABC News:

A Pentagon official Thursday largely refused to answer lawmakers' questions about why members of Congress are prohibited from meeting with Guantanamo detainees, even as intelligence officials from China and elsewhere were allegedly allowed to visit Guantanamo and interrogate prisoners held there.

Did they have visitation rights when the the detainees were being tortured? If they did, and turned a "deaf ear," to the plight of the tortured, they should shut the h--- up! On the other hand, if they did no visit the detainees under before, in what capacity will they visit them now?

They never asked to go there when Bush was in the White House. Now all of a sudden they want to look like they are concerned about what is going on down there. Why don't they all go and have a beer with the Prez.

Obama's handling of Gitmo and the detainees is very disconcerting.
Close the place, bring them to the US to be tried and let the innocent GO HOME!! If US Justice is good enough for us, its good enough for them. Everyone has human rights and has nothing to do with where you came from or your color or the lies laid out by Bush.
The idea that these men, purchased by Bushco to fill his concentration/torture camp experiment are anything like "the worst of the worst" is about as true as WMD in Iraq.

How easily Americans forget terrorism. This is a tried and tested tactic used by Al-Qaieda in the past, and I am shocked to say the least that some Americans have forgotten the disgusting, murderous attacks of 9/11 ALREADY.
KSM and his cohorts being held at Gitmo are not "good enough" for the United States justice system. They are not citizens, they are not members of a country at war with the U.S. They are entitled to nothing the United States has to offer.
POTUS has the insight and information now to know the truth about what some of these men have done; the atrocities they have perpetrated against innocent human beings in the name of religion.
I have confidence his administration will find the right solutions to end the saga of Gitmo.
But if anyone here thinks terrorists are not determined to continue to rely on our complacency over time, to relax and become more vulnerable to attacks one again, I suggest reading "1000 Years For Revenge" a national bestseller by Peter Lance.
KSM IS "the worst of the worst."

Maybe Congress should close Guantanamo like President Obama requested.

That would solve the problem Congress created when they authorized it to be used as a concentration camp by the Bush administation.

Rigggghhhhht, because the Pentagon has been soooo concerned with the welfare of the detainees.

They want to ensure that someone from Congress with an ounce of humanity does not learn more of the sordid details of our barbarism from the mouths of our victims. Obama doesn't want anything to ignite potential momentum of a Congressional action toward investigating Bush and Cheney.

Maybe because American law makers don't really have a reason to be there other than sedition. Maybe because the diplomats from other countries are reviewing which detainee's they will be taking. Maybe because it makes sense to protect these idiots from themselves.
