Chocolate

The Guardian:

We have been indulging in it in various forms for at least 3,000 years, arguing over its influence on everything from our sexual appetites to our waistlines.

But now scientists for the world's largest chocolatier believe they have stumbled on the holy grail of chocolate: a recipe that is both melt-resistant and low-calorie.

They're calling it "Volcano." Whose holy grail? Beelzebub's?

Shouldn't chocolate melt in your mouth?

The reason butter and chocolate are so sensually delightful is that both melt at body temperature, so they melt on your tongue.

This is no good.

It melts at 55 degrees centigrade. Would it, therefore, melt in your gut?

It probably goes in solid form straight from your gut to your arteries.

37 degrees C.= 98.6 degrees F.
55C= 131F
No one would survive a fever of 131F.
No melt in tummy without hydrochloric acid and other digestive enzymes.
Phony chocolate!

Sounds like they exchanged cocoa butter for another lipid. Gross. Everything doesn't need to be healthy.

Cocoa "butter" is most beneficial stuff. The things that are added to the chocolatl are what makes "chocolate" bad for you. Stay natural! That's what we do in Trinidad and Tobago.

Trinidad is the worst country ever.

I wonder what man made ingredients have been added to accomplish this? Did they say if it was all natural? Doesn't sound very good. Crunchy instead of creamy just doesn't describe chocolate. The low calorie part sounds great, if the taste is still preserved.

I'll reserve judgement until I actually taste the stuff, but I wonder what Willy Wonka would think.

There'd be no chocolate river and no chocolate waterfall. Maybe a path of chocolate cobblestones instead. Not as good.

The world is clearly a better place. Now how about they invent something that puts food inside hungry people?

chocolate is perfect the way it is... i know a family who make and sell peruvian chocolate, and it melts deliciously and it's full fat. i only need to eat one, in small bites, savoring it. it makes godiva and see's taste like the cheapest bar from the drug store.

Melt resistant. Low calorie!

What a deplorable idea.

What joy is in the world if you can't have a nice chocolate coated finger after indulging or have the thrill of the nice calorie rush.

Texture like 'light foam?' I'm sorry, but I rather like the sensual feeling of the melting in my mouth!

In Vietnam some of the C-Rations came with what they called "Tropical Chocolate". They
were round, about 3 inches in diameter, and about 3/8 inch thick. They were wrapped in
foil. Sounds like the same thing. Even down to the texture.

Exactly! I was going to post the same thing. Hershey invented the stuff in the 50s I think.
