Chocolate

The Guardian:

We have been indulging in it in various forms for at least 3,000 years, arguing over its influence on everything from our sexual appetites to our waistlines.

But now scientists for the world's largest chocolatier believe they have stumbled on the holy grail of chocolate: a recipe that is both melt-resistant and low-calorie.

I hope they are paying the High School students who actually invented the no-melt chocolate receipe 15 or so years ago.
I think it was a group of high school students in Pennsylvania. It was all over the news at the time. The Philadelphia Inquirer had an article on 12 grade science class invents no melt chocolate.
They said they were in contact with some Swiss chocolate makers about their invention.
This headline should read: " Big Swiss Company Rips Off Kid's Invention and Claims it for their own".

I prefer my chocolate to be full of calories and melt -in-your-mouth.

And next, they are developing seedless corn. I mean really, no melt chocolate? Sounds like a paper weight to me.

"It's called Vulcano because it can be eaten when it's hot, and its airy and full of bubbles, like volcanic rock,"

I've had bubble filled chocolate before and the texture was disgusting.

Excuse me but isn't the melting thing part of what we love about chocolate?

You forgot to mention a country that embraces collaborating with the Nazis.

... what? That's the best way I know to poke fun at Switzerland.

Sure, I'll try it. But something tells me it wouldn't be the same.

There's a reason chocolate is supposed to be an indulgence. Want fewer calories? Get the really good stuff, and nibble rather than gobble.

Some things should be savored.

Hershey invented the melt resistant "Desert Bar" for the first Iraq war in the 90s, this isn't exactly new.

REI sold "tropical" chocolate bars for summer hikers back in the seventies. Took a pretty hot fire to make hot chocolate, but it worked. Hikers weren't as worried about calories then.

The Swiss must've finally cracked the secret code for twinkies.

The article mentions that the salivary enzymes do the "melting", and they are claiming such a caloric reduction, that I suppose they've replaced the cocoa butter with a type of starch. A good challenge for food chemists and materials scientists, perhaps, but it would be a surprise if it doesn't feel like baked whipped egg whites.

Affordable Universal Health Care, and no melt chocolate!

Both are lies, especially the chocolate part as it is already perfect.

Please site your source for claiming that the Swiss do not have affordable Universal Health Care. Sounds like babble to me.
