The Alexandria: Jon Gosselin's New York Bachelor Apartment

"Jon & Kate Plus 8" newly single dad Jon Gosselin has supposedly moved into a two-bedroom apartment in The Alexandra, an Upper West Side building at 201 West 72nd Street.

People reports he moved into the building recently and stayed a night, shortly before taking off for France with his girlfriend Hailey Glassman and visiting his eight kids in Pennsylvania, where he is also obligated to film his TLC reality show.

The building, on the corner of Broadway, has a few comparable listings currently for rent, which can be seen on Streeteasy.com.

The two two-bedroom apartments now available for rent are going for $4800 and $5000 a month, and are 1076 square ft and 1150 square ft respectively.

The average for-sale price in the building is $1,148 per ft.

No word how much Gosselin is paying or how many beds he's put in to possibly accommodate a visit from his sizable brood.

I don't watch this show, but his wife seems to be very nasty, especially to the children. It's just awful.

I think it would be better for this guy to stay single so as to air out his wife's essence from him. Going on the rebound thing isn't healthy.

If Kate has been a shrew, I think it's because everything else she tried to get Jon to check into the marriage and parenting failed. When you're at your wit's end, you resort to drastic measures.

Jon is a jerk who has decided he doesn't like his life and is now going to go out and play like an 18 year old. I have no sympathy for him at all.

Kate pretty much admitted that she was a control freak, and treated him like crap. At some point, the branch breaks and nothing can repair it. Especially with these quiet guys. They don't fight and when it's over, it's over. Kate needs someone who will fight back.

He didn't destroy the marriage all by himself.

Agreed. IMO, this is just awful for the kids. I have four (all singletons :) I can't imagine exposing all of their private moments to the world. My kids would die if their temper tantrums or potty-training moments were televised.

It's like forced child labor. Kate and Jon say the kids 'want' to do the show, but since when do we allow five and eight-year-old kids do what they 'want?'

Darn if I know. From what Huff printed the other day, Jon and Hailey are looking to start a clothing line together. I would be shocked if it ever got off the ground.

Kate was a nurse and Jon did some kind of computer programming. Good jobs, but not something you can support 8 kids on.

I beg to differ. No, you can't live in a million dollar home, or travel all over the US first class and stay in top notch resorts and vacation homes, or buy clothes for every television occasion, or attend private schools or other unnecessary "wants"; however, you can work good jobs (and these occupations do make good $$), and make a good living to raise a great family with quality time spent as a family.

But Kate is not willing to loose the "perks" she's getting from the show.

He (somehow) has enough money to sink into this apartment in New York, but he cannot find it worth his trouble to find a place big enough and close enough for all the kids he agreed to parent and bring into this world.

The plan is that the children will stay in the home and each parent will live there during his/her custodial time. I think that it's safe to assume that Kate will be the primary custodian. Jon will probably stay there a couple of weekends a month and some vacation time, and take the kids various places.

Just like every other divorced parent does.
