The Alexandria: Jon Gosselin's New York Bachelor Apartment

"Jon & Kate Plus 8" newly single dad Jon Gosselin has supposedly moved into a two-bedroom apartment in The Alexandra, an Upper West Side building at 201 West 72nd Street.

People reports he moved into the building recently and stayed a night, shortly before taking off for France with his girlfriend Hailey Glassman and visiting his eight kids in Pennsylvania, where he is also obligated to film his TLC reality show.

The building, on the corner of Broadway, has a few comparable listings currently for rent, which can be seen on Streeteasy.com.

The two two-bedroom apartments now available for rent are going for $4800 and $5000 a month, and are 1076 square ft and 1150 square ft respectively.

The average for-sale price in the building is $1,148 per ft.

No word how much Gosselin is paying or how many beds he's put in to possibly accommodate a visit from his sizable brood.

These two are sharing custody in the existing, giant house they have. John's kids will not be visiting the New York pad.

It is in fact, crazy, to suggest that he should get an additional house that accomodates eight kids, when custody will be shared in the other one.

It is also crazy to suggest that he live closer to them - when Kate's got custody, he's not going to want to be anywhere near her.

As for everyone suggesting that John can't afford this, that would be John's business. The guy could probably get a six figure book deal if he just said the word.

When abused women leave their husbands, it's called empowering. When John does it, he's a dog.

Do you when KATE and JON marketed their children? Isn't KATE the one that says "the show must go on?" Kate will never have enough, and Jon's gotten accustomed to the money.

For all the comments I've read since this seperation and divorce became public about how saintly Kate is, and how wrong Jon is to have done what he did.. is everyone blind??? Bravo to you to say what I've been thinking all along. Even in front of cameras Kate was/is vile and abusive to Jon. After awhile, you're "mad as hell and you're not going to take it anymore". I sincerely hope that Jon finds what he is looking for. It's no one's business what kind of apartment he rents or how expensive it is. Kate has done a wonderful job exploiting her own children with her books and leaving her twins behind in favour of the six miracles. You go Jon. Do what needs to be done so you can find some peace.

I agree Kate seems to be an impossible woman to live with. That being said, he could have found a place large enough and close enough to his kids to be more involved in their upbringing.

I might be more sympathetic to him, but in this week's People he is in France. Says he misses the kids. But at very end of the article he says he has to go back to the States for some filming. THen him and his girlfiend are going to be getting away on a "real vacation". Doesn'tday he needs to get back for the kids. No he need to get back to do some filming.

I don't watch the show, but from what I see, his children seem nowhere near his first concern.

Of course "the show must go on". Kate has to support eight friggin' kids. I don't blame her for trying to squeeze whatever she can out of her "reality TV" fame. Blaming them for having eight kids in a moot point now. They're here and, as a mother, she's doing the best she can at the moment. Jon's come a long way since his image as a good Christian, IT professional and responsible dad. Now he's a walking advertisement for Ed Hardy clothing who seems to have really bad taste in women. Come on, Jon, Hailey Glassman??And has Jon always had those silly-looking pierced ears? Jon seems to be a really weak soul. Sadly, I see lots of drug and alcohol abuse in his future. Kate? She'd be too embarrassed to go out that way. You may think she's a harpy, but she's a survivor. She'll always have a reason to hold her head up.

Eight children will be only Mom's responsibilies while he is carousing of with his girl friend and laughing it up. As far as I am concerned we should not click on his picture or name again.

Any therapist can see what is happening with Jon: Married too young, father of too many kids too young; a controlling/domineering spouse who emasculated him constantly. Now he's gotten some courage to realize he wasn't treated properly and is enjoying it. The problem is he should've gone to marital counseling with Kate and he should be in therapy now to find himself or he'll end up in a rebound marriage with more kids.

Doesn't he realize he's making a spectacle of himself? He's a grown adult with kids... I don't care what he says, even if he feels now that he missed out on a bachelor life or whatever, no matter what... he should KNOW BETTER... everyone has that sense of right or wrong deep down inside.

Jon married at age 22, then proceeded to have a buttload of kids. He wanted to stop having kids after the twin girls. Kate wanted more, and apparently because he's so passive, he didn't say no.

It seems to me that he's sort of sewing his oats now. And, from what we can tell, he seems to be a loving, attentive parent while he's with the kids, as opposed to being on the cellphone all of the time and spanking one kid because she's noisy when mom is on the cellphone all of the time.

And she is from a privileged background.. That being said, I wonder has anyone thought of the effect this show's reruns will have on these kids when they are in middle-school, high-school and beyond?
Did anyone think that when their peers see this stuff, how they will react to these children, who through no fault of their own had their early lives splashed all over the nation?
So many of our child celebrities have had trouble adjusting to adult life, and these kids can't even say they received celebritiy treatment....just that a nation saw them when they ate breakfast, went to the grocery store, or had arguments with their siblings.

I never watched the show but saw a behind the scenes video clip of an interview Kate was doing with the kids sitting with her on the couch. One of the girls sitting with Kate told her that she was really thirsty and wanted some water.

Kate ignores her and tells one of the cameramen or whomever if she could get a bottle of water because she was dying of thirst, gets the bottle, takes a swig in front of the daughter & the rest of the kids there, puts the cap back on and puts it away...

Daughter: "Mommy, you're so meannn... you drank that right in front of me!!"

INCREDIBLE... feel horrible for those kids... that's all I needed to see...

Ahhhh, you didn't see the photo where Kate has her cellphone glued to her ear, and one of the little girls wants attention (uh, hello, they're little kids, and they want attention). Instead of getting of the phone and managing the situation, she spanks the little girl.
