Atheists Sue To Keep 'In God We Trust' Off Capitol Visitor Center

A California Republican congressman wants to do a little writing on the walls of Washington's newest federal building. If Rep. Dan Lungren gets his way, Congress will spend nearly $100,000 to engrave the words "In God We Trust " and the Pledge of Allegiance in prominent spots at the Capitol Visitor Center.

How about a compromise? Put the slogan up but change it to, "In God We Trust, or Not"

There is no compromise necessary. That's not provided for in the Constitution. How about just doing what's required, that would be an enormous step in the right direction.

Look the other way - don't say the words, don't take photos, ignore it !!
We should not be changing because of "them" - very soon we shall be wearing head coverings because of "them".

Get a grip and stop making a fuss - help others - spend time doing some good and live life.

Imagine if it said "In Allah we trust." Would most Americans look the other way then?

Part of the reason things are so messed up is because religion has carried such a heavy voice in our politics. Or haven't you paid attention to the last 8 years at least??? This is not a "fuss". Ignoring why this country is flailing about is wrong. Intellect and logic, rational thinking is what should be the primary methods of how our government operates. Not emotional Deity driven adherence to magical thinking and promises made by a never seen Deity. We know how to discern right from wrong. We don't need brimstone and fire in our lives anymore. Those who who want that can pursue it but they have no right as expressed by the Constitution to impose it on the state. So RosieBond you are entitled to your opinion. But if you look at theocratic governments and organizations it's about the imposition of their thinking on others. It's their power over others.Control over others. So you ought to get a grip on what you value in your freedom as an American citizen because if you don't make a fuss and make the government work the way it's suppose to then you could lose even the option to make a fuss.
