I read this article and all I can think about is the Beirut Barracks bombing.
238 Marines and Docs plus 3 Army members lost that day. ROE by way of that Republican Admin that were going to tell those Marines how to protect themselves.
If the troops cannot do it right they need to come home at once.
There is no middle ground here.
They either do what they need to provide security or they come home.

Sixty odd years ago, deGaulle told us to get all of our troops out of their country, and we did. Of course, we thoroughly trashed the bases that we evacuated, to make them as useless as possible to the French, but we did get our troops out of their country.

Why are we still trying to encircle Russia with missile defense systems and encouraging former East bloc countries to join NATO?
Why don't we invite them to join us in a mutual disarmament pact and dismantle all our nukes? Maybe keep 20, but do we really need 20,000?
