Oh, and I wonder who is paying his legal bills right now. That might shed some light on this whole thing. Follow his money.

I think the Federal Employees Union is representing him. They probably use tax dollars to pay for their own lawyer. But this guy will cost us money, because if we pay for his representation, we also pay to represent our President. Two for one, right?

To bad this guy didn't decide to retire sooner. He sounds like he was past due based on his actions. He seems like one of those REpublicans who refuse to believe they are less than perfect.

Guess who else has a connection here?

"First Lady Michelle Obama’s chief of staff, Jackie Norris, is being sent to the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) in what is both a White House shake-up and an indication of the first lady’s sway over the corporation that oversees AmeriCorps, Serve and Learn and the Senior Corps."

I think the quote says enough. Btw..do you know that MO was part of Americorp in her earlier years? If you can't connect the dots then I suggest you google it and read up.

what's wrong with AmeriCorps? It's a great program here in Appalachia that gets people off of welfare and build a resume and on the job experience to move up. And the jobs they have here are generally associated with education and social services, which are desperately under-served. And the AmeriCorps workers here actually trade off for a job that pays much less than they got for welfare benefits.

Nothing is wrong with the program, but there have been some concerns with how their money has been used.

If he was so "confused", why, just one day before the White House asked him to step down, did the agency ask him to make a speech on June 23 in San Francisco to a conference of some 2,000 staff members and grantees. The invitation was delivered by Gretchen Van De Veer, director of the Office of Leadership Development and Training at the Corporation for National and Community Service.

Yes, that's weird considering he was fired around June 12th. SMH

What is weird? Most people are asked ahead of time in order to plan ahead. So, he was invited on the 11th for a speech on the 23rd. Seems kind of normal to me.

Maybe the "agency" that asked him to make the speech didn't know that he was about to be fired. Ever think about that?

Maybe the "agency" was trying to give him cover. What does it mean that the "invitation was delivered by", unless you say the White House asked him to make the speech one day and fired him the next, this argument makes absolutely no sense. The White House may have found out about the "invitation", and tried to preempt the possibility that the man would be speaking for the government in public again. Ever think about that??

You seem to miss the point. The agency that invited him to speak at their convention the day before he was fired, was the same agency that (one day later) claimed he was not able to do his job and was "confused" , which is supposedly why he was fired. Why would they do that invite him to speak if he was as incompetent as they claim he was?

Sounds like when all those lawyers were fired during the Boosh Administration.

Certain agencies should not have political intervention.

Sounds like 0 did wrong.

First of all, who is Zero?

Second, the "judges" that were fired during the Bush Administration were fired for political reasons. Mainly so they could put their political cronies in the positions, and because the sitting judges weren't ruling "correctly". There have actually been allegations that certain Administration officials were attempting to either change or steer judges to decisions that would benefit Republicans and hurt Democrats.

This is nowhere near the same situation.

Knowitall you know s-h---t! They weren't judges they were United States Attorneys who do serve at the pleasure of the US AG and President. On the other hand the Investigator Generals are protected from firing by a 30 day Law.

this will never get to trial - there is no basis for the case - he has no legal grounds - - but it is kind of too bad because it would be a pleasure to have Walpin dissected & held up as the incompetent political hack / fraud / crook that he is.
He was being given a an opportunity to leave without being totally humiliated for being unable to correctly do his job -(and for attempting to use his position as a means of power manipulation) - but now that he has decided to try to kick up some dust, he should be held accountable for his abysmal and unethical behavior and his total ineptitude .

this will never go to trial because the dems control everything...it will be next to impossible for the reps to do anything about this. Scary.

The article says the IG "was confused, disoriented, unable to answer questions and exhibited other behavior that led the Board to question his capacity to serve" and he was fired. He's protesting the firing. This protest is consistent with a person that is confused and disoriented. Join the rest of the working world fella---your boss can fire you if he thinks you are not cutting it. Go get a job.

The point might be that some men have egoes that will make you think. They will never take orders from a woman (Wife), or someone they felt were not their equal (Pat Buchanan). Now if Mr. Walprin have these tendency and did not think he should take orders from his wife or the president , then what would you call it? Denying there are people like this, then you must be one of them (Mr. Walprin).
