Kelly Hildebrandt Marries ... Kelly Hildebrandt (VIDEO)

First Posted: 08/19/2009 5:12 am Updated: 05/25/2011 1:40 pm

Kelly Hildebrandt's Facebook search for her own name turned up just one match, a young man from Texas. Intrigued, she sent him a message, and the rest as they say, is history.

The pair appeared together with NBC's Jenna Wolfe:

He's Kelly! She's Kelly! They're detectives!

If they're smart they'll start making sure they both use their middle initials on everything (and hopefully THOSE are different). I noticed on the video that her middle name is Katrina, so hopefully his middle name is something that doesn't start with a K. It'll save a lot of trouble done the road with plane tickets and whatnot. I had 2 friends in school with the same name, one of them was always getting left out of the year book because the editor thought they were duplicates (but they weren't - they looked nothing alike and one was 5" taller than the other one).

Makes me think of Larry the Cable Guy's routine about how he wanted to marry a girl but she didn't want to take his name; he thought it would be cool for them both to be named "Larry".........

(insert rimshot here)

Cute story... Good Luck.

It's funny; there are a number of people criticizing them, as though having a similar name was the ONLY criteria for starting the relationship. Even on the most surface of analysis, they have as much in common as other couples starting out: both young, similar ethnicity etc. Besides, since around 50% of all marriages fail in this country, the choice to date or mate based on having the same name is no more risky than choosing a mate from the same school, or co-workers at the same company. Believe me, if anyone on HP really knew the secret to lasting relationships, they’d be selling it!

What would our future 7th generation think of us?

Undoubtedly, sharing the same name provided their relationship with an air of mystique, which was probably the primary factor that cemented their union. The intrigue will soon wear off, however, after which the couple will require much more than a common name for their pairing to stand the test of time.

I met a beautiful woman who shared the same birthday as mine, and, due to the intrigue that we both felt from that "coincidence," we developed a passionate, long-distance relationship (she lived in another city) that lasted for ten years. During that relationship, she bore us a lovely child -- a little girl -- who is now in college. The relationship finally ended, since, aside from the same birthday, we had little else in common...and she was married to another man the entire time.

Am I a cad for cuckolding her husband? Well, of course. I am dearly paying for that sin by being denied any contact with my daughter, whom I have not seen in over ten years and has no idea that I am her father.

Oh wow. That's quite a story. So, did your partner just pretend that the child was her husband's? Sorry for being nosy...

Oh my, you "cad!" Oh, and why are you "denied" contact? Isn't she an adult? Whatever.

Makes planning ahead easy...one tombstone says "Kelly Hildebrandt", and the other says "Ditto".

How many times will they have to explain this "coincidence" before one of them vomits and changes the first name? It's going to sound like an echo chamber when they're calling to each other in their home. I couldn't be any happier for them. In fact I'm not happy for them at all. But good luck just the same!!
