My goodness, Obama taking the lead on Health Care? What a novel idea. I just hope it isn't too late.

The health care plan being offered is convaluted with many miles of small print and arcane regulations that will require fact checkers and paper pushers in addition to those now being employed by the insurance comapnies. And this is at inception, it will only get worse. Why not use that waste of money to pass a simple clear coverage that ensures everyone no matter their employment, means, age or previous condition .?

In addition it will put small businesses in danger ofc ollapse and take money from the medicaid sick to cover the walking well.

making it healt insurance mandatory for everyone is a boon to the insurance agencies, ensuring that they no longer have to truly compete.

Actually, the public option is what creates the competition. And for the public option to be competitive it means that the young and healthy need to be part of the pool.

One of the many failures of for-profit insurance is that the only pool they cover are the healthy. They weed out everybody else in order to reap huge profits as they never have to pay out.

In any case, reforming health care is never going to be simple. It will always be a complicated process that will continually need tweaking.

Whatever happened to progressive republicans?

"Defenders of the short-sighted men who in their greed and selfishness will, if permitted, rob our country of half its charm by their reckless extermination of all useful and beautiful wild things sometimes seek to champion them by saying the 'the game belongs to the people.' So it does; and not merely to the people now alive, but to the unborn people. The 'greatest good for the greatest number' applies to the number within the womb of time, compared to which those now alive form but an insignificant fraction. Our duty to the whole, including the unborn generations, bids us restrain an unprincipled present-day minority from wasting the heritage of these unborn generations. The movement for the conservation of wild life and the larger movement for the conservation of all our natural resources are essentially democratic in spirit, purpose, and method."
A Book-Lover's Holidays in the Open, 1916

Teddy Roosevelt

Drill baby drill.....indeed.

They left the Republican Party about the same time Dixiecrats left the Democratic Party.

Square Deal

"Let the watchwords of all our people be the old familiar watchwords of honesty, decency, fair-dealing, and commonsense."... "We must treat each man on his worth and merits as a man. We must see that each is given a square deal, because he is entitled to no more and should receive no less.""The welfare of each of us is dependent fundamentally upon the welfare of all of us."

First there was a plan ^^ Drown the Government, and take an enormous profit in the process.

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/meltdown/view/

With government broken ^ they were able to get to the money tap directly during the ensuing crisis.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4490541725797746038

By increasing the spreads ^^ as wide as possible, and selling the country short... They steal from the market as well, and maximize their gains.

Blame Democrats, and that is pretty much the GOP plan.

What do Republicans wish for America, besides to destroy it?

"No man is an Island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the Continent, a part of the main; if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friends or of thine own were; any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in Mankind; And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; It tolls for thee."
