Although they worked hard as the Commanders-in-Chief, these men can also be looked to as leaders in leisure.

The picture of President Johnson with his dog as they "sing" together is priceless!!

I missed the horse shoe and the jogger. Didn't know Clinton did crosswords in ink but recognized his hands!!

"Barack Obama, of course." Of course, because only black people play basketball, right?

You know right?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:08 AM on 07/20/2009

um, remember the whole "he's gonna tear out the bowling ally for a basketball court."
sorry, but the media has covered obama's ball skills repeatedly.
and c'mon, can you really picture nixon doing an ally-oop? eisenhower nailing a fade-away?

Wow, that's a strange way of taking it.

I took the "of course" to be that since everything you see on TV these days is about our current president that this photo wasn't as quizzical as the others. Meaning you didn't really have to know Presidential hobbies to get it.

But if you want to go with the "racist" thing instead, that's your prerogative, I suppose. You are aware, aren't you, that sometimes taking everything as racist makes you, and not those you are attempting to call out, look like the one with the issues?

Whoa, easy there. It's true, the "of course" wasn't really necessary. And pilgrim was just pointing that out.

And you are aware, I hope, that sometimes calling someone out for bringing race to a non-issue in a condescending and snotty way like you have some giant cross to bear kind of makes you look a little bit like a racist, right? Get over it.

yes, I also took the Of Course in that it's always been on the news even since the campaign that President Obama love B Ball-I didn't take it as racist.

But, to the article-might we also add that President Obama is an avid Golfer AND reader.

Does anyone know what kind of music did Nixon and Truman play at the piano?

I have ridden lots of horses and carried tons of brush and so I certainly can identify with those "hobbies". They are really good for the soul. There is nothing like riding a horse. Nothing.

Truman was a decent player of classical music, and Nixon played light classical , hymns and other schlocky stuff, as I understand.

Mendelcrosses, So WW1, WW2 , Korea and Vietnam which claimed over 100 million lives were under all Democratic Presidents but you blame Bush as the war monger. Let me know when both his wars come close to the losses under the Democratic leaders of our last century!!! If you want to talk warmongers let's start with Johnson!

Where you been hidin'? W's wars are the most expensive than all previous wars combined and counting....................... These were optional wars, wars for personal gain for the bush & chenet crime families.

Johnson was a warmonder? What about Nixon, what did he do, bombed Cambodia and Laos, not to mention bombed the sh*t out of the North. And he doesnt make your list? How about Regan, he was so itching for any war that he bombed Libya, and wanted to play soldier so he invaded Granada. And how about Lebanon. Then tell me how Bush the draft dodger and wanna-be General, wasn't a warmonder.

I'm assuming you are a young person who was not around for any of the wars you mentioned. WW1 was a dirty, ugly global conflict that changed how every country looked at eachother, and us. That is when the U.S. really became a world leader. WW2 - uh, we were attacked. Korea and Viet Nam were both fomented in WW2, we got into Korea when North Korea launched an unprovoked assault into South Korea. And Viet Nam really began when the French pulled out and we took over their training and military. That was under Eisenhower. We'd never gone where we weren't invited before Bush. We never made the first strike before Bush. We never were the bullies before Bush. Yes, war monger is appropriate for Bush.

we won WWI and WWII, both run by dem. korea was eisenhower (a rep) and while johnson did ramp up action in vietnam, he chose not to seek re-election do to involving america in 'nam. nixon ran the vast majority of the conflict.

oh, and it only took america 4 years to defeat germany, japan, and italy. bush took 6 years in iraq, and the mess was still passed of to obama.

Slaves were property, Historians have put forth that: one, he inherited them along with a lot of debt (some of which he accumulated on his own) and had to keep them as they were part of the collateral for this debt.

From what I have read about the man, he treated them like family and took good care of the children he had by the one lady even after his death.

Just because someone is a slave does not necessitate that they were treated poorly.

Not that owning a person is right or justifiable and you forget that many whites sold themselves into servitude for payment of debt, as well.

Life was different in 1700's. Jefferson can not be vilified for owning slaves.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:51 AM on 07/19/2009

if you read any of jefferson's personal papers, the issue of slavery divided the continental congress pretty much right from the start. in his personal writings, he debated with himself over the fact that freedom for all was the cornerstone of the new nation, yet the nation owned slaves.
i'm not defending or promoting, just pointing out that jefferson himself recognized the hypocrosy and irony of his situation.

I think the "of course" is related to the headline to "test your knowledge." As in, of course O is the bb player, because EVERYONE KNOWS that O is the bb player. Which means EVERYONE probably got that one correct. Not, of course O is the bb player, because he's the black man.
