Although they worked hard as the Commanders-in-Chief, these men can also be looked to as leaders in leisure.

Who painted and who played piano? Who collected stamps and who cleared brush? Test your knowledge below.

The picture of President Johnson with his dog as they "sing" together is priceless!!

I missed the horse shoe and the jogger. Didn't know Clinton did crosswords in ink but recognized his hands!!

um, remember the whole "he's gonna tear out the bowling ally for a basketball court."
sorry, but the media has covered obama's ball skills repeatedly.

Does anyone know what kind of music did Nixon and Truman play at the piano?
05:56 PM on 07/18/2009
I have ridden lots of horses and carried tons of brush and so I certainly can identify with those "hobbies". They are really good for the soul. There is nothing like riding a horse. Nothing.
09:21 PM on 07/18/2009
Truman was a decent player of classical music, and Nixon played light classical , hymns and other schlocky stuff, as I understand.

I laughed at the staged Brush Cleaner one, also. What a crock. Of course, they couldn't show his true hobby of licking Cheney's boots.

Mendelcrosses, So WW1, WW2 , Korea and Vietnam which claimed over 100 million lives were under all Democratic Presidents but you blame Bush as the war monger. Let me know when both his wars come close to the losses under the Democratic leaders of our last century!!! If you want to talk warmongers let's start with Johnson!

Johnson was a warmonder? What about Nixon, what did he do, bombed Cambodia and Laos, not to mention bombed the sh*t out of the North. And he doesnt make your list? How about Regan, he was so itching for any war that he bombed Libya, and wanted to play soldier so he invaded Granada. And how about Lebanon. Then tell me how Bush the draft dodger and wanna-be General, wasn't a warmonder.

Really! Collecting pipes or carving pipes is a hobby. Smoking a pipe is an activity.

Maybe, but he wasn't doing that, just smoking a pipe does not a hobby make.

Slaves were property, Historians have put forth that: one, he inherited them along with a lot of debt (some of which he accumulated on his own) and had to keep them as they were part of the collateral for this debt.

From what I have read about the man, he treated them like family and took good care of the children he had by the one lady even after his death.

Just because someone is a slave does not necessitate that they were treated poorly.

Not that owning a person is right or justifiable and you forget that many whites sold themselves into servitude for payment of debt, as well.

Life was different in 1700's. Jefferson can not be vilified for owning slaves.

uh, just wondering......why is Obama a basketball player "of course"
10:53 AM on 07/18/2009
Because he is black?
11:15 AM on 07/18/2009
Because he's our current president and it's been a very visible part of his campaign and his presidency that he likes to unwind by shooting buckets.

I think the "of course" is related to the headline to "test your knowledge." As in, of course O is the bb player, because EVERYONE KNOWS that O is the bb player. Which means EVERYONE probably got that one correct. Not, of course O is the bb player, because he's the black man.
11:13 AM on 07/18/2009
Because everybody knows he plays basketball.
