Roll Call:

And here we thought paying for sex was a no-no, especially for scandal-wary Members of Congress. But Rep. Steve Buyer thinks people who engage in the act (specifically, the kind that takes place sans protection) should have to pony up.

First off, this guy is a Republican. Second if I am reading this correctly he advocating raising taxes on Americans! Have you guys seen this guy's voting record, he has voted 93.5 % of the time with his fellow GOP in Congress according to the WAPO. He voted for expanded the survellience powers, he voted for the patriot act, but he votes against SCHIP. What kind of country does this guy really want, it sounds like his voting record suggest that he thinks GWB policies were great, even though they exploded the deficit and resulted in going to war on false pretenses, yet he inserts this bullsh&t into a health-care bill. The GOP are for the most part made up of Hypocrits and policy idiots who care nothing for the details.

That said he seems to have been a good soldier in the US Armed forces, I wish he would stick to being a patriot because as Congressman he seems clearly out of his element.

Give him a call and ask him why he wants to raise taxes on Americans

As moronic as this proposal is, notice that they use the word "Surcharge", not tax.

What agency would be put in charge of monitoring every one's sex habits - the FBI (Fornicating Bureau of Investigations) ?

I think there's veiled homophobia in this bill. The unprotected sex tax is thinly disguised to be a tax on gays. Can't these fornicating Republicans find something better to do with their time then to dump on gays?

About the only way to enforce this is to put people in ankle braclets. They are a few pounds over the limit but still head toward golden arches in search of a Double Quarter Pounder? Buzz. They take a puff of a friends cigarette at a party. Buzz. The sex one is tricky. There are married people who have unprotected sex. Because they're taking a chance. Because they're thinking of a baby. Because they're not awake. Because it's New Year's Eve and champagne does things to people. So unless you're going to put a monitor on their actual ...how can I put this? "Private Parts" so that they're too afraid to get undressed lest their going to have to pay a fee for using them....how on earth will you log it? (Don't you dare touch that. Or that one either!)

Anyway. Silly. Silly Season. If I'm understanding him correctly I'll need to weigh in to prove I didn't have Haagen Daz over my limit and be sure to never sit next to a smoker lest I got .1111 over the limit on 2nd hand smoke and can't prove it isn't mine. I thought Republicans were the ones who wanted to keep government small and out of people's lives? It sounds like they want to rifle through my lingerie drawer.

This guy wants to tax Bristol Palin? Jeez, having to raise a baby as a single mom AND put up with that harpy who bore her should be enough of a load for the poor kid.

They should put him to work over at C Street. Where he might be useful. Instead of unleashing him on us. Fetch Ken. Good boy.

There should be a double premium for unprotected sex outside the country, eg, Argentina...

Well great- now the Goopers even want to tax sex.

What's next? Does the GOP want to tax breathing? How about going to the bathroom? Maybe the Republicans want to tax eating too.

Typical conservatives- there's nothing they won't tax.

I thought there was a tax to go to the bathroom in NYC already. Have you ever seen a free not pay toilet in that town ?

Yeah, tons. I don't even think I've ever seen a pay toilet, like anywhere, except for a Red State.

Have you even been to NYC?

I hate that phrase "unprotected sex." If the protection is protection against pregnancy, call it contraception. If the protection is against disease, then you shouldn't be with that partner anyway. The only real protection is holy matrimony.

Gay marriage? Same principle, though birth control would not be an issue.

Do you have any idea how many married women get AIDS from their husbands?

And in either case, pregnancy or disease, what business is it of yours?

??

I'm not sure if I'm understanding you. But Holy Matrimony isn't protection. It's simply an observance of faith, a committment through that faith, a sanctioning by that faith. Hence the word "holy". It's faith based. I was married that way. In a ministers office with the blessings of the church.

But it "protected" me from nothing. It didn't protect me from life. From disease, or anything else. I mean I'm healthy, so is my husband. But that's by way of he and I not cheating and indulging in - unprotected sex. The act of marrying in holy matrimony didn't accomplish that. Personal responsibility did.

If I'm understanding you. I may not be.

If prostitution became clean, it could grow into a large part of our economy.

Hay, a new way to pay for the Health Care Bill ! A government funded Red Light District in every City, Town and Burg with an IRS agent there to collect a 40% flat rate tax for any service performed.

I don't see anything wrong with prost/itution. It should be regulated and controlled. Who/rehouses should be the cleanest place in the country. Test weekly and if anything is found they are banned for life. Not a problem because there is always more that will fill the hole so to speak.

I see problems with it--it's not exactly a career track with a long-term future and it would probably be harder than a political career when it comes to personal relationships--but the health and safety problems are all exacerbated by illegality.
