Erin Andrews Peephole Video Spreads Malware (NSFW)

Hackers have created webpages claiming to contain the notorious Erin Andrews peephole video in their attempt to infect Mac and Windows computers.

Erin Andrews is a glamourous TV sports reporter on ESPN with many fans, so it's no surprise that when news broke that a voyeur had secretly filmed her through the peephole of her hotel room door that the internet would be abuzz with sad sleazy men searching for the footage.

If you want the video, search for it on The Pirate Bay and download it as a video file.... because any untrusted website could just as easily load malware.

Yeah, except unlike a sex tape where someone willing participates in their own madness. She was alone, in a hotel room, with the curtains drawn and someone was in the hallway looking through the doors peephole. That is crazy. That is dangerous. This type of behavior is predatory and could escalate into serious violence against women rather than simply violations of privacy. This is indicative behavior, like strangling or killing pets and animals. This is not a lark. This is something much more troubling.

Most women I know wear a robe, and if you are a celebrity in the caveman-sport crowd, I would imagine a person would take precautions from this sort of thing - for it must happen with some regularity.

even tmz isn't posting the video as it's a breach of privacy,that's saying something. But is it true that you can see in thru a peephole from the outside? I'm confused - do they mean the one in the door or it was another one. Either way - if it's true it's a huge violation of privacy.

I was very confused by this as well. I thought from reading the story he was somehow shooting from THE peephole that is on almost every door. Obviously, this wouldn't have made much sense, in retrospect, how would he stand in the hallway for five minutes with a camera pressed against her door.

He was clearly shooting this from A peephole....that he drilled into the wall from the room next door. I think there were multiple angles.

I've seen it and it only took me 10 secs to find it. I went to yahoo answers and it was right there (seriously). I first googled the website to make sure it was a legitimate place and then I went to the place. It definitely looks like she's posing for the camera. That or she's just a weird girl.

I guess that completely destroys the myth that there are no viri and no way to infect Mac's, as claimed by dozens of posters on this site. Matter of fact, if you pay attention to the video, you'll see that the demonstration is performed on a Mac running anti-virus software which catches something trying to infect the Mac.

There are NO viruses for Mac OS X. There is a boatload of MALWARE for Mac OS X and every other operating system. However, the malware can't propogate to other Mac systems because it isn't a bonafide virus. So essentially what you are claiming is completely false regarding Mac OS X viruses.

Bottom line, be careful with malicious programs and don't download from non-trusted sites or load suspicious looking programs on your computer, be it Mac or especially Windows PC's.

The photos through the peephole of the hotel are definitely an invasion
of privacy, for sure, but this is one of the downsides of being an attractive
female celebrity. I don't feel sorry for her because if she weren't beautiful
she'd probably be a hostess at a local sports bar and grill for $30k

Just like Carrie Prejean claiming her nude photos were underage and thus illegal pics, they just want to slow down the spread of the video.

I never said it was ok to have pics of underage girls.

What I said was Carrie Prejean lied about her age when her nude pics came out....claiming to be 17 when she was really 19 or 20 when those pictures were taken.
She lied and claimed that they were underage and thus illegal pics, in order to scare people into not viewing or downloading her pictures. They were legal pics.

When do you ever hear of new networks putting out word of viruses in any other internet video? This is coming from Erin's camp.
